Well, I had never played one of these before, but holy crap that neck is really nice!

This was found on Facebook marketplace and I have too many guitars, and no real use for it, but you guys know how it goes.

You find something cool and cheap and you justify it ?

It's got some pretty extensive finish checking but besides that is in remarkably good shape. PXL_20221022_223739858.MP.jpg

I have more guitars than I need as is, but this thing is surprisingly cool - the series/parallel and phase switches can do some really cool Brian may and 80s clean tones, as well.

Anyone else have experience with these weird fuckers?

Never even saw one but I would have grabbed it for sure, I’m all about single humbucker guitars
Absolutely, this thing kind of screams.

It's like the 70s version of a Ton Delonge strat

Altho HeWhoCannotBeNamed from the Dwarves famously used one

I'm gonna record some riffs with it!

I'm really surprised at how great the humbucker sounds, especially for heavy stuff. I wonder what the specs are on it
I had one of those some time back. If I remember correctly the HB was ceramic and pretty decent output of like 13-14k thereabout. I remember having all kinds of options to split or dual single coil mode in series or parallel. Also, if you get around to it check under the guard for a neck routing. Mine had a route for a neck pickup despite it being a Lead I. Nice find!

I'm super surprised at how good it sounds!

I’d rock that. I love it. I’ve seen these before but never played one.

They are very well made, I was surprised

Nice score Dan!
That's probably one of the earliest Fender attempt to make a Super Strat.
Yours date from 1981

Congrats!
Love finish checking on vintage guitars. Not so much on new ‘fake’ relic stuff.

This was the first “nice” guitar I ever purchased many moons ago. Sold it to a friend who still has it.

They are going for $1500 on ebay, mainly from Japan. Crazy

Yeah I got a crazy good deal on it, I'm going to play around with it for a while and see if it's a keeper, I suppose.

I'm really surprised at how nice the humbucker sounds.
