Been in Toronto since Thursday for some concerts and had to feed the GAS Monster! Hit up Long and McQuade today looking for a Les Paul, Double Neck SG or PRS. Played a bunch but nothing was speaking to me. Went back to where the Ernie Balls were and grabbed one that stood out to me the most, an Amber flame Axis. It just so happened that this thing had a killer neck and played like a dream. I wanked on the Floyd and couldn't put it out of tune! Up until this point I wasn't sold on the Axis. I've only play about 6 before now, so not that many really, but the necks were all the same and felt kind of weird, cheap in a way, oddly rounded off at the edges, kind of hard to explain. But this one...holy crap, just awesome!!

Enough of my rambling, here it is! My gf took a few quick pics!

So here's a cool story. The sales guy and I were chatting and he mentioned Whitby Ontario, which made me think of Mike Fortin. Long story short, the sales rep was none other than our own DiezelMonster (Chris). I spent a couple hours in the store and he was just a super nice dude, very helpful and down to earth. When we figured out who each other was we had a good chuckle. It's a small world and it was great meeting him!

Anxious to get back home and rock out. Catch ya the next time I'm down Chris! Cheers!

wow, now that is awsome. cool guitar and even better story to go with it, nice grab

Nice

Yeah it's pretty cool when you meet an fellow rig talker. Jim ( yngzaklynch ) nice guy and encredible player came over a few months back and tried out all the amps I had here at that time I really enjoyed that day.

Matt-

It was great to meet you in the store today!. When I saw you I knew you looked familiar!. I couldn't quite place it until we were talking about Mike, but damn dude, Small world is right. Your avatar is bang on!.

Everyone probably already knows this, but Matt is a super cool dude and killer player, I was really diggin what you were playin on the double neck man! Sorry about the Mesa roadster being jacked up! kids dick around with the stuff in the store so much that tube amps don't always have a good chance in there.
Your gal is cool too! I wish mine would come to more guitar stores with me! it's just hard when you work in one, not many others to go too hahaha!

You got a really sweet guitar man and I loved checkin that one out when it was in there, and you are right about the necks, I've felt the same way about most of them that have passed through.

Next time you are going to be in town hit me up on here or my work email and stop by!

It was a pleasure to meet another rig talk member!

Peace!

Hey Chris!

No prob about the roadster! lol

Even mid visit I told my gf and buddy you were a really cool dude, and the fact that we figured out we were rig-talk'ers just made it even cooler! I get decent service from the other L&M store, but you really spent the time to chat, recommend guitars and let me have a run at any that I wanted. I could tell immediately you were a super nice dude and had a great passion for music, no bs ego or anything! I really appreciated the help!

Yeah my woman's pretty damn cool, and funny as hell to be with. Oh she would have loved for me to leave with that Taylor but in the end she fell in love with the Axis too! And it only cost me supper, so I got off easy haha.

By the way, I noticed from facebook that we have a mutual friend, Al Ingram! Another cool small world coincidence! I met Al years ago when I sold him my Soldano. He's good shit man, we chat gear all the time!

I'll definitely hit you up when I'm back in the area. In fact, now that I've fallen in love with your store I don't have much use visiting the one on Bloor lol. Hopefully I'll catch ya soon! And thanks for the props, I appreciate it! I swear Friday I was clumsy as hell and yesterday I couldn't tune a guitar by ear haha. I guess that's what happens when I jam pack my weekend.

Thanks again, and let me know when the Meathead lands! *drools*

Cheers!

Matt

Congrats on the sweet Axis!!! I recently got a JP6 BFR and it is hands down the most smoking electric I've played. I really liked it when I first got it, but after getting more used to the neck and overall feel I now love it!! EBMM are unique guitars. Very well made! Make some clips.

Congrats!! They have the best necks I've ever played!!

Nice score, I like that color flame. I bet it plays great

Thanks man! And you're right, the craftsmanship is superb! The neck joint is so tight, the binding is flawless. Congrats on the JP! That's a fun guitar with a really cool thin neck!

Thanks to everyone who commented! Just got in from the road. Anxious to rip on the new axe tonight :)

I'm glad you enjoyed comin in. I remember when I was a kid going into local stores and most of the guys there had shitty egos, and vowed I would never be that way, plus I don't have the skill on guitar to have an ego, I just love havin fun, and love seeing people try guitars and the smile on their faces when they find the right one. I found the right store when I was coming up and the guys there were a trip to hang out with and made me feel like I belonged regardless of how good I was as a player, so I try to impart that in my time at work so hopefully other kids can have the same enjoyment I had.

When I meet people from forums it's always a cool experience and I'm glad we did! It was a great time hearing you rip on those axes and that Taylor never sounded better than with you on it! Trust me I hear that guitar alot and now have a better feeling of it and it's tone. I always make it sound like shit hahahahaha. Maybe next time you can grab the taylor hahahaha 8)

Al Ingram is a dude I met through the store years back and he is a cool kat, he always comes in with some new score or tells me about some awesome kijiji find! He's just as sick as all of us with gear whoreing! I remember him telling me about a soldano so that must have been yours haha small world once again!.

If you see something at another store or want something ordere just hit me up man and I'd be glad to sort it out for you!

And trust me, when I get the Meathead it will be plastered all over this place! everyone is going to be sick from hearing about it! haha I've been waiting since August 09 and I'm stoked to have it someday soon hopefully! It's going to be a badass amp, the time I spent with the proto really opened my eyes to tone and quality and that you don't have to sacrifice either, you just have to pay for it! hahaha

Oh and by the way I'm not sayin you are a kid above, just commenting on how important it is for me that everyone feels welcome where I work and free to try what they want without havin any ego shut them down!

Cheers!

congrats sir! I freaking love my JP6. I've played a couple super sport EB's as well and always really dug them.

I hear ya Chris, and no worries, I knew what you were getting at! I always remembered those who treated me well and those who acted like dinks. Truthfully it's the reason I don't bother with Steve's Music anymore. The puffy chested sales reps usually made me feel like I was imposing on their time. This one time I asked to try a particular amp with a Gibson Les Paul. They guy came back with an LTD EC-1000 in hand. I then politely asked if he could grabbed me a Gibson Les Paul (you know, like I had asked for) to which he replied "I'd prefer if you just use this". I then had to explain I'm a good customer and asked him to look up my account. He did and came back with a Gibson. I shouldn't have had to do that though, and felt like a douche telling him to look up my account. All I wanted was to try an amp with a guitar I'm familiar with. I have plenty of similar stories as well, but those aside I always appreciate good service!

Man, that Taylor was nice! I can't remember what I was playing on it but glad you enjoyed it! The pickups were a great surprise. What a tone, shimmery with plenty of body, the kind of tone that just makes ya smile! I just couldn't justify buying a guitar I know would get little use. I already have too many of those, yikes lol. Who knows, maybe I will snag it next time anyway lol.

Al had my snakeskin Hot Rod +. It was a very nice amp. He's on the eternal quest for the perfect rig (aren't we all? lol)...I hope he gets there some day! I spoke to him not long ago about his current setup and already forgot what he has lol. He changes so much! haha

You know what i should have grabbed while I was there? A D-Tuna! Do you guys carry it?

I'll probably be seeing ya again this summer. My Dad too a rip on the Axis tonight and was really impressed. He's decided he wants another guitar, along the lines of this but with floating trem.

Cheers man!!
