So I have 2 new toys! I decided to treat myself to a Budda Superdrive 80, an amp I have wanted for probably 15 years or more. It is, in my opinion, the pinnacle of rock guitar amps, at least for the ones I've played. I found a guy several hours away that had one and got me a sweet deal on it and got it in today. Unfortunately, since I live in an apartment, I can't really open her up, but I did get to at least test it to make sure all the knobs and switches worked. It's a Pre-Peavey and Jeff Bober gave it a clean bill of health, while also adding a presence knob and volume balance knob on the back.
Second, I treated myself to another Warrior. This one was on Reverb and I got a pretty good deal on it. I'm not sure what year it is, but it's a dark walnut body with a purpleheart fretboard (but it's very very brown, so it needs some tlc) with ebony block inlays. The guitar was in real need of a good fretboard cleaning and the board absolutely guzzled the Behlen's fretboard conditioner...2 coats and it sucked it all in. The strings were really filthy and the frets had that crusty gritty sound when bending a note, so it has been sitting a while with nasty strings. It has 2 DiMarzio X2N pickups in it with wood covers, so it's going to be a very rock centered guitar for sure. Otherwise, basic Warrior fare: 24 frets, 25" scale, dual humbucker with a 5 way switch and 1 volume 1 tone. I'm about to go rub in some Williamsville Wax furniture care into it and give it some good protection and then restring it tomorrow after it has had more time to acclimate...it was reallllly cold outside on it's trip.
