Just ordered this from Japan. Thanks Meestersparkle  . The guitar made it from Japan to Florida in 4 days and was packed so well it actually took me awhile to get the damn thing out of the box! No love note from customs either.

Anyways, this is a mid-80's model and it's pretty killer, even the stock pickups sound fairly decent- but will be throwing some Motor City's in there. These guitars are really well made.

Sweet. How does it sound through that Deluxe Reverb?

Looks great. Curious about how much it weighs, neck profile, pot values, etc....

Congrats! Meestursparkle has some great guitars for sure.

Alan, congratz! I have 3 Burny Les Pauls here (a Randy Rhoads LPC from '83, a Black Beauty LPC from '87 and a Standard that has the Peter Green/Gary Moore/Paul Kossoff look from '89). Lovely guitars, consistent quality too (I've owned 3 more Burny's...2 LP's and 1 SG)

Looking at the placement of the Super Grade logo as well as the truss-rod cover, I'd venture to say that yours is very likely to be late 80's, early 90's. In the mid-80's, Burnys didn't have the truss rod covers that have the 'side thorns'. If it was a Les Paul Custom, another give-away would be that the diamond inlay would have 2 triangles connected, to look like a lightning bolt.

To correctly date yours, you may need to look at the type of tone-caps being used, as well as date-codes on the pots. That's how I was able to pin-point mine. And my '87 black LPC had the smooth bell-TRC as well as the 'original' diamond (aka non-lighting bolt). Given that info, I assume yours will be from '88 or '89 at least.

Any chance you could post some pics of your Burnies?

Sure, see attachment.

I totally Randy'd the Randy one, as it originally had black bell knobs, black switch-ring, black switch tip and black jack plate. All gold/brass now. Aluminium tailpiece, Tusq bridge saddles and nut, Alpha 500k push/pull tone pots for coil splits.
Pickups are now: Duncan SH-16 Custom/59 Hybrid + DiMarzio 36th Anniv PAF neck.
Furthermore, the black LPC got a new "Les Paul Custom" trussrod, some other hardware upgrades (Switchcraft stuff), re-fretted and DiMarzio Super D/36th Anniv PAF neck combo + Alpha 500k push/pull tone pots for coil splits..
Finally, the honeyburst one got upgrades (Switchcraf jack, Tusq nut, alu. tailpiece, Gotoh bridge, Bourns push/pull volume 500 pots; a lot nicer than the Alpha pots btw) and pickups are now both double cream DiMarzio's; Norton bridge and Air Norton neck. Both splittable (awesome split tones!)

Thanks Speed. Yeah, regardless of year, I love this thing.

Thanks guys. I also plan on changing the tuners to gotoh locking keystones. Very, very pleased I pulled the trigger on this one.

Yea great seller. I bought a Tokai off them. Fast shipping and packs extremely well. I swear there was like 100 feet of bubble wrap on the guitar.

Yep, it sure seemed like 100 feet. Whatever it was, the thing could have fallen out of the damn plane and not gotten damaged
