Picked this up today, fell in luv as soon as I saw it, knew I was leaving with it when I played it.

I need help with some details though. All I know for sure is that it's a 1995 San Dimas but which one? I found this page, might be the same model as the 7th guitar down? The top is throwing me though, clearly maple and not lacewood or whatever as pictured.

Whatever the body wood is (which is what I'm most curious about), there's no mistaking other things, like a maple top, birdseye maple neck, rosewood board, Sperzel locking tuners (which work great, never had a guitar with 'em but hell, they do work!), Wilkinson trem and EMG pups (definitely not stock).

There's hardly a scratch on it, the frets are in great shape, neck is staight as an arrow, action is (now ;)) buttery low, etc, and the tone is incredible, really thick and throaty but balanced! Damn I'm happy right now, lol

Thanks for any help!

Basically a 1995 San Dimas II. I had the Koa 2-hum version of this.

If you go off the website you mentioned, it's a SAn Dimas IIIw. Never heard of it. Cool all the same.

These guitars had a lot more in common with Jacksons than anything Charvel. They were trying to capture something, but it didn't go over that well with this series of guitars.

Thanks all! :)

Guess it is safe to say it's a San Dimas IIIw then as two or three sites suggest the same thing. I'll still try to clear up the body thing though as they seem to have come in two or three flavors. Also interested in what the mini toggle switch does - seems to make the bridge pickup louder in the down position (or quiets it in the up position  ). I found an old thread at the JCF Forum that runs on for 6 or 7 pages talking about these, even has serial numbers and what came with what so off I go to do some homework.

just42dave, the US RG was one of the few pieces I knew to hang onto since the day I bought it new (back in '95), easily the oldest/longest running piece I own (besides a Fender 2x12 cab pops gave me)...never even enters my mind to sell it!! :)

Ayrton, the only reason to visit GC these days: Used gear!! I pop onto their used gear page every few days and scan for gems...you never know!

I only ever go to the Atlanta store, I never bother with the others.

Oh yeah, the Atlanta location gets some great used stuff in, especially heads! I've seen TWO Cornford MK50 II's pass through there in the last year...if I ever see another, I may snag it, lol. I picked up an MD421 mic there a couple weeks ago.
