Love it. Cool and pretty original. I thought I was the only one that actually likes/prefers HSS (I love position 2 on cleans and need bridge hum for dirtys)..

Thanks again!!! The 'torched' effect was done by Chip Ellis at Charvel. The more I look at it the more it gives me an evil vibe, something about the 'burned into wood' pattern from "The Ring" comes to mind.

There's no doubt better dudes on this board to make Charvel comparisons than myself, but here's a few quick notes of my two FWIW:

So far, the necks seem similar in size and shape, the CS being just a SMIDGE sleeker. Where the necks really differ is in their FEEL. The CS is so much smoother it's unreal! I used to think my US Pro Mod neck felt smooth, flat and fast (I've had it for a while, hitting it with 0000 several times already), and it is in its own right (great low action, nice fret work and buzz free). But after a few days with the CS it's not even close...I'd love to know just how they got the back of this neck so smoth and refined feeling, I'd do it to my Pro Mod in a heartbeat!!! It really is something - I've never played a neck that felt so slick. The necks on my Ibanez' are slim and fast obviously, but the finish on the back makes them slightly tacky and sluggish when compared to the buttery unfinished ease of the CS.

The CS sounds better acoustically. The overall weight of the CS honestly feels a tiny bit lighter than the Pro Mod as well - though I haven't actually weighed them. Both guitars are sporting MIG Floyds and they feel/play the same. The Pro Mods volume pot is sadly making some scratching noises these days where the CS is smooth and silent.

The frets on the CS are larger and the fretwork is definitely superior, very tidy.

I WILL post up a back to back clip of the two just for a goof when I get some time, hopefully this weekend.

Very cool! A marble finish. So, you can say that guitar really ROCKS!

The frets really look super good! I would be pretty pissed if my new custom shop guitar felt exactly the same as a $900 Pro Mod!

I absolutely LOVE that.
Can I ask what value volume pot they've used ?

Need some close ups of that finish, really looks cool man, what do they call this finish???

Thanks again. Charvel love is still strong here!

The volume pot just has a series of numbers on it, have no idea from that, but listening and comparing it to other guitars I'm sure it's 500k. The finish is officically called "To Hell and Back."

Here's a short clip I promised earlier. Kinda sloppy but good enough for tone testing. I backed off the amps gain to a light crunch to really allow the pickups to identify themselves, lol! I played the same idea with both Charvels, simply switching at the halfway mark.

Both sound kick-ass and aggressive - nice tone test! I like the second guitar tone because the first is too bright and high output. The second one is more laid back and clear. If I had to guess, I would say the second one is the Custom 5?

Thanks!! I should have not been lazy and slapped new strings on BOTH guitars - It slightly affects the comparison. The Pro Mod has way past their prime strings (several months old ) and the CS has a squeaky new set on....so that should clear up which was which....(Custom 5 is first half of clip ;)).

Man, that's badass. Congrats! I'm really wanting a Custom Shop Charvel myself. You're a lucky dude!
