Just got this in from Sweetwater. I was in the quoting process of having a local luthier build a guitar for me in trade for an amp, but the deal ending up falling through. No biggie. So fast forward a month or two and I find that the specs I wanted in my custom build were pretty much on par with the Charvel DeMartini. I wanted a dinky style body with 1 hum and 1 single, floyd rose, quartersawn maple neck, truss rod wheel nut, and no tone knob. Only thing I would change on this is have a recessed Floyd and direct mount pickup, but that's splitting hairs at this point. It's a MIM DeMartini; no way would I feel ok paying mid $3k for the USA made one.
Love how this plays. I didn't care for the factory 9's that were on it, so I strung it up with 10-52 to Eb, and it rips. The RTM pickup has some balls to it! Chords are nice and fat with some good separation, and leads are almost compressed a little so they sound fairly fluid - compared to the JB I have in a similar guitar. Kind of a thin neck, but not as thin as my Michael Wilton LTD. I'm used to Lynch style necks so this is a bit of an adjustment. The 12-16 compound radius is great. Fits my hands very well. Quite impressed with this guitar!
