Nice guitars. I missed the boat on these as I usually do with everything else.

I am at the point where I am beyond over buying new guitars. I would rather buy used in good shape and I can crown/polish the frets (I have no problem leveling but I don't buy with that much wear in general unless price reflects), and go through it and replace a few things and get better results than the factory and be happy paying less. I don't bother with cheap Floyds. Not worth the hassle.

Since doing that (and having ability posess that skill set) have been disappointed once in the last 20+ guitars. As opposed to buying new and being under 50/50.

Sorta in the same boat. Trying to make sure nothing is in excess of $1200-1500, usually under $1000, and doing a little bit of strategic part upgrades. It is really satisfying for sure.

Got it a few days ago. Between the guitar and the mods, it RAWKS. Love this guitar. Has a great feel to it, and even the the "mojo" is fake, it still has it. It doesn't feel fake to me at all, even though it does looks a bit fake. I think the key is to buy it second/third hand...lol... Probably going to be one of my faves, and definitely a keeper.

That "relicing" looks unbelievably ridiculous and unnatural, but otherwise I fucking love the look of these guitars

Its a little bit weird that they don't just paint these in a flat-ish black, with no clear coat and just let the wear happen for real.

I love the layout though, If I were to ever go back for more superstrats, it would be something like this.

Necro-bump...

I got the one that was on Reverb yesterday. The guy made a few YouTube vids that kinda sold me on it, and did some nice upgrades as well - Duncan 78, German Floyd that is decked, Hipshot locking tuners, and upgraded to an EVH pot. Looking forward to getting it. I’ve re-fallen in love with Charvel/Jackson after a couple years away from them.

Whoa, I just saw this.
Talking about this dude?

If so, I am kind of surprised. He seemed thrilled with it.
I just played mine, shooting back n forth between my 02 LP Classic.
I have to say, after a good setup, the SC-1 has become my most often played guitar. It sounds good and is a blast to play.
So much so I've put my HSS American Pro Strat up for sale.

Edited to say dont feel bad if you paid more than you think you should have. There were only 267 of these made and they're already climbing in price.

Yep! That's the guy, and that's MY guitar! I really like it too! The bridge pickup is a little weak with lower-gain amps, but monstrous with high gainers! I put some noiseless springs in it, but beyond that, I haven't really had to do anything else with it. His setup was quite similar to how I like my guitars set up as well.

Nice, great score! Seems like he really had it dialed in. Can't believe he sold it after so much raving over it.
How do you like the dive only Floyd?
Were the springs a worthy upgrade?
I've always been curious about the SD 78. Seems like hot-rodded PAF?
I'm still digging the EVH bridge pup in mine. It may not have quite the clarity of a WCR or Motor City, but it's the best stock pup I've had in the bridge of any new electric.
I love mine. I can do a lot of things with it, but it always ends up leading to some hard rocking and crazy leads.

Yeah, not sure exactly why he sold it, other than being kind of a gear hound like a lot of us. I know I've sold plenty gear that I REALLY liked, just cuz I wanted to try something else...

The Floyd is fine. I'm a poor rhythm player at best, so not too affected by it being dive only. ;) I actually have most of my trem guitars blocked, so this is not an issue at all. I like the way a Floyd feels under my hand though, so I gravitate to guitars with floating trem systems. Part of why I went with the noiseless springs is that they are also higher tension, so I can use two springs and keep the trem block centered in the cavity and on the trem. It always seemed like when I had "normal" springs tightened way down and stretched out that they would resonate, so I think this seems like a good answer to that issue...so far.

The 78 is definitely a hot-rodded PAF style pickup. Good overtones, fairly bright, and open. Rewards cleaner playing and cleans up high gain tones. That said, my current favorite pickup is the Full Shred. Love those things!

I sold one that was good... along with two additional pic guards for more options. It took a while to sell for $950.

Not to resurrect an oldish thread but can I ask where you got the pickguards?
