First off, thanks to Curt (Chubtone) for a great deal on this guitar. As I'm sure most of you already know, he's great to deal with.

My initial impressions are that I like this guitar a lot. The neck is really close to the one on my old GMW DeMartini, only it needs to be just a little bit smoother in feel. Some steel wool and playing time should fix that though. Curt mentioned to me that the guitar comes stock with 250K pots and I like the tone of it so far, even with the stock 9-42 gauge strings. Also, I immediately replaced that horrid razor sharp volume knob with a normal black one and I'll probably replace the pickup rings as well. Sometime down the road when I have the money, I may order a Musikraft Charvel body (mahogany with a flamed maple top) and pair it up with this neck. Who knows though. :D

Excellent score mang! Once you get more playing time in, you should post a tonal comparison between the SD2, DeMartini, Iron Maiden Strat, and any other Strat types you've owned.

Congrats!

BTW,

The guitar looks much more appealing in the pics you've posted than others I've seen.

Nice Mark! That 1/4 sawn maple neck must be really solid.

when did you start playing B52 amps?

:D

That's not mine. nickname009 had it shipped to me since the seller wouldn't ship it to Canada.

Congrats, cool guitar. I dig my tangerine So-Cal, enough that once the green ones hit the used market I'm going to grab one of those too. For the price/performance these guitars are really hard to beat.

I was just looking at the new green and blue ones on eBay yesterday. They both look real nice as well.

I just steel wool'd the neck on mine and it's glorious now. So smooth. :inlove:

Mark,
How about a nice red SD2 to keep your black one company.

I actually don't care much for the red one...even though it is the color of the best F1 team. :D

Oh and does anybody know what size shaft is on these guitars for the volume knob? The one I put on there is kinda cheap looking as well so I was just gonna pick up a new one. Is it 6mm or 1/4"?

oh god your not helping my dan dimas GAS!!!

i cant wait to wrap my hands around one of those necks

Haha, not gonna go for that $2300 one on Digimart? :D

I was just looking around on Warmoth's website and found almost the exact finish I'd want if I decide to order a Strat style body...

Only I'd want the purple just a touch darker. Looks so hot with the black burst and black sides and back.

Mark,
Warmoth neck pockets won't fit the 2 and 1/4" Charvel necks butt width. Also if you convert 1/4" to mm it is 6.25mm. I think a 6mm knob and a 1/4" knob are the same size buddy. 1" = 25mm

Yeah, I was just looking at what different finishes they had. I don't think the 6mm and 1/4" knobs are the same though.

If they are, I have no idea why they would have them listed separately.

I just called my repair guy to check on this Mark. Get the 1/4" one. He said they are normally interchangeable but sometimes you have to Dremel the smaller ones for like 3 seconds to get them over some pots. With the 1/4" you are safe.

Sweet. Thanks Curt.
