Dude the more I look at this post and more specifically, that guitar, the more G.A.S. I'm getting. LOL!! That combination of the board and that color is just amazing.

I had talked to Curt about doing a guitar a few months ago but glad I held off because I get more ideas when I see new builds, etc. I lived in Germany in the 80s when I was in high school and thought it would be cool to do the German flag with maybe the German Soccer Team logo on there. I thought it would be awesome to make it look old and relic'd too. I haven't figured out exactly what I want it to look like but just thought it would be neat if it looked like an old historical find with aged looking pickup covers or other parts and then this flag that looks "dated". I still gotta throw some ideas around but looking at their builds, there is all kinds of great stuff they are doing. :)

The plot thickens The website says Alder, Instagram says Ash. It's fantastic either way. The only grain pattern is in the cavity but the grain seems recessed like Ash. I have to say I prefer the neck carve on this to the Luxxtone.

I just read your FB comparison of the three necks. Good stuff!! I think I'd dig all of the necks to be honest, especially since I own a USA Charvel, Les Paul, Clapton Strat, etc. I kind of jump around to different necks anyway. I even have a guitar with a "baseball bat" neck. I got it used and wouldn't have wanted that type personally, but it is what it is. If nothing else, has great sustain.

I was curious, does Chubtone have a neck that is similar to your Luxxtone or do they just do one or two types?

Love the color , I have a Radiation Green Carvin Bolt that is almost identical in color .

Looks like Ash.

Also, I believe the necks on the Chubtones are like the pre-pro necks from the original Charvels. My Charvel pre-pro reissues and nitro aged all have prepro neck specs and they are my favorite. Just magical.

The more I play it, the I feel that the Luxxtone may be up for sale soon

The grain is very ash-y but hard to say for sure, might be the cut. Stellar finish tho

:O u sure? What pickups do your babies have?

When you order a Chubtone, they will do any neck profile you desire. When I ordered, I told Curt that the neck on my R0 Les Paul was my favorite ever, and wanted it the same.....he nailed it!

Nice guitar OP!

The Luxxtone has a Luxxtone/Arcane hot Alnico 8 bridge and Arcane PAF neck

How do they sound compared to the DiMarzios in the Chub? I remember Arcane being quite an hyped winder in this forum not too long ago

The hot Alnico 8 has the heat of a ceramic but doesn't loose the mids. It's a firebreather, I think on paper it's close to the Arcane Mr. Scary.

This vs Luxxtone, I must know
I wrote a review on the Facebook Charvel page comparing Chubtone vs Custom Shop Charvel vs Luxxtone. I'll post in a different thread, but in short the Chubtone is on par with the custom shop in every category. The Luxxtone to me has a slight advantage on fret edges, although all are exceptional. Jerry is the artist technician for Charvel, Fender, and several other companies.

Luxxtone on top, Chubtone on the bottom

Nice score on the guitar!

Given the pricing (and if build quality really is on par with the more established brands), it's hard to argue against grabbing a Chubtone.

I will always be a fan of the Charvel Custom Shop stuff though, despite the higher prices. (Which I do kind of understand when you consider the 30-35 percent markup from retailers, and the higher overhead costs usually associated with larger companies like Charvel/Fender).
