I picked this little gem up yesterday on a 'before the divorce' sale. A local music store offered the seller a check for $1000.00... I offered $1300.00 cash. Score! :)

The flame on the neck is outrageous! I've never played a EBMM EVH before, but this is quickly becoming my favorite guitar to play. It sounds better to my ears than the USA Peavey Wolfgang I use to own. It has more 'balls' in the midrange, and the neck feels better. I'm generally not a fan of the Floyd Rose

Been checking these out since I got my evh striped series. That is by far my favorite so far. Beautiful!!

It was in nasty shape when I got it. I polished the frets with steel wool and Nu-Metal, reset the tremolo system so it wasn't laying against the body, adjusted the string-tree and added a bit of relief to the neck. I use to run a FR tremolo in a 2 x spring V pattern, but I left all three springs in this. It stays in-tune better, and has a bit of added resistance.

The trem is actually supposed to be resting against the body on that guitar. Otherwise the d-tuna will not work properly. It's supposed to be drive only.

That's what I ran into with the Peavey Wolfgang, but this is staying in-tune perfectly. I don't recall if the Peavey had two springs or three... Maybe it's the heavier string gauge I switched to? I have it adjusted to infinite down of-course, and one semi-tone up.

Nice axe & GREAT score!!! That's got to be one of the nicest blue finishes I've ever seen!!!

And I completely agree, I prefer these to the Wolfgangs also - although I LOVE the Wolfgangs and GAS for one nonstop!!!

That's a dive bomb only floyd man, it's supposed to rest on the body. This also keeps the string height at the correct measurement above the pup's because they're direct mount

Yep, and the D tuna will go berserk too. Plus you loose some beef in the tone.

Don`t mess with Eddie`s design philosophies. :gethim:

Nice fiddle man, i`d like to get a blue or honey one, i have a dead mint purple one that rocks. Zero fade.

The high E is fine. The bridge sits at a backward angle, which I don't like. If I level the bridge, and drop it lower, the strings will be sitting on the frets. I'm thinking the former owned may have shimmed the neck? I don't see any shim material, but that doesn't mean there isn't a Doll House matchbook cover tucked in there.

For that price and condition...you almost stole it. Congrats!

It's actually got some dings here and there. I could fix them with same straight nitro, but I'm not going to mess with it.

Update:

Here's what I found in the heel cavity...

Here's how I have the bridge set-up...

THAT's more like it! I sold my EBMM EVH because I didn't like the non-adjustable action (unless you used a shim in the neck pocket)! Yours looks to be set up much better - enjoy!

That is a beauty and an EVH model to boot!

Great score! Love the colour and look. Neck looks fabulous!

Well done!

:)
