Just got this older ESP Horizon Custom that was made for Paul Pesco (Madonna guitarist). It has an all quilt maple body, flame maple neck and ebony fretboard. For my taste, it is one of the top 3 best guitars I ever owned along with my ‘57 Les Paul Jr and ‘64 SG Jr. Everything about it seems top notch from playability, feel, aesthetics and most importantly tone. Because of the maple body it sounds very articulate, ballsy, lotta weight/pop to the notes, and bright but in a very musical way with nice round high notes, nothing remotely harsh.
I’m not sure exactly what year it’s from, but the guy I got it from says it’s from the 90’s and it sounds like it because acoustically it sounds more lively and resonant than a newer guitar typically would, but still not as much as an older guitar from the 60’s or 50’s. If anyone here is an ESP expert and can help identify when its from I’d very much appreciate it!
Weirdly I’ve never actually owned before a single ESP all these years, but have tried a countless amount of their guitars. I’ve owned over the years most of the other popular metal brands like Ibanez, Jackson, Dean, schecters, 3 Mayones’s, Skervesen, Suhr, Bernie Rico Jr, McNaught, Arisitides, Carvin, Vik, but somehow never an ESP. This particular ESP I’d put above all those other guitars I had before by a good margin
