New old used Japanese guitar day! ;) My coworker s̶m̶u̶g̶g̶l̶e̶d̶ brought this over from Japan today. Ever since they put that stupid CITES/no rosewood shipping outside of Japan law, it makes it a bitch if you are a fan of Japanese made guitars... so I'm pretty stoked, this thing is a 1998 Orville (fuji-gen made) and feels and plays amazing. Gonna try some new pickups... thinking of putting some Fluence/Fishman's in... after watching a few of Gsxrbusa's videos I have to try a set

Congrats! 2 months ago I nabbed an 84 Greco Sykes model off ebay, came from Japan in like 4 days, no customs to deal with and it also has a Rosewood board. Has the Dry pups too, I guess they are the upgrade..they sound similar to an Aldrich to my ears.
Those MIJ LPs are great guitars!

Thanks. I have a Orville by Gibson LPC which I bought off ebay a few years ago but it never felt really good to me.. later on I figured out it was modeled after the Gibson fretless wonder years so the frets are really low and totally flat... it's easier for chords but sucks for bends... This one I saw on that ichibara music site someone here shared awhile ago for about $550 bucks so I asked my coworker if he could do me a favor, score!

Nice score! I've got a few Bacchus and Edwards axes and they can't be beat for the money.

I've really been wanting an Edwards LPC!
I remember you mentioning that a while ago.. I think it was that thread that someone posted this link http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/eng/ and I've been checking it out ever since. They recently added paypal which got the ball rolling for me to "try". So I tried to buy this Orville thru them and a few hours later I got an email in broken english saying sorry blah blah CITES rosewood blah blah can't ship after January 2017. Just so happen I had a coworker coming to visit our office from Tokyo and I asked if he could hook a brotha up. The guitar was $550 ish and he bought a cheap hardcase for $100 which was a total bargain. I just can't believe how clean this one is vs my Orville by Gibson, this thing is flawless... and will be better with locking tuners and some new guts

Thanks dude and yeah I'm stoked that it does not have a nitro finish so it will stay white. I have a 91 explorer, my first nice guitar and that thing is yellowed out like old crackwhore teeth lol. Some like that look, me I liked it more when it was white

That's a beauty. COngrats man, those guitars are killer!

Does it have 500k pots? It always kinda sucks when you have to change those out as well.

I'm gonna get all new everything for it including pots. Really want to try those fluence fishmans out.

I tried the Moderns at NAMM but wasn’t sold.

Hmmm... well I was thinking those or the BK Pain killers.. so many cool options out there. I have BK Mules in another LP already so want to go more aggressive with this guitar. Any suggestions Jer?

Congrats on the guitar, looks great!
Thanks dude, could not wait to get off of work today... Just did some testing of the stock pickups... thing sounds pretty good and also didn't realize it at first but it has a thicker beefier neck, just how I like em.

So instead of sleeping early/getting rest to prepare for tomorrow night's Municipal Waste show (their first time in Hawaii) I stayed up and did a test recording of the stock pickups of the Orville... not bad.

How does it sound to you guys?

Sounds pretty good actually. You mentioned Fishman earlier. I'll throw in a recommendation
for the Classics. I truly wish they made the Classics in 7 and 8 string versions as the 6 stringers are pretty outstanding to my ears.

BTW, great video accompaniment. :D

I had the painkillers in an esp horizon and they were mean as fuck. I'll get another one day for one of my fiddles. Hate to muddy the pot, but still want to try a ceramic nailbomb for metal as well.

Cool guitar by the way!

Man I had a Painkiller set in my old V and they were great. The Ceramic War Pig/Miracle Man set I had in my Pras CE24 was BRUTAL!
