I had been looking for an Ibanez Prestige Rg250MZ for quite a while with no luck.
These were japan only distributed for one year so finding them in the US is a tough one.
Alder body with a H/S/S pick guard , not your average RG
Well last week I was just perusing EBAY and cam across an add "Ibanez Prestige". that's all is said. I took a closer look and low and behold a 2540MZ in Crimson Red at a really good price. Well sadly someone had modded the pickguard to H/S/H and at some point went with Actives because there is a battery compartment in the back, but these have the "Wizard HP Prestige" necks on them. I don't get along well with the Super thin super Wizards they put on everything now. the neck profile on this one falls right between what my 1550M has and my RG550 Genesis has.
So I got in touch with the seller (a broker in Japan) taking a risk here, and negotiated to a really really good price with free shipping. So I pulled the Trigger. Guitar arrived today. there was a fair bit of corrosion and crud all over the guitar and the wiring is fried (pick ups sound horrible and the tone control spins endlessly.)
Normally I would've been pissed , but I am ripping out the pickguard and going back to H/S/S anyway , so that didn't bother me. The neck is nice and straight the frets are in great shape and the truss rod works perfectly. The strings were old and rusted. This thing just needed some love. So I polished the frets cleaned her up and set her up the way I like. If the seller saw her now he'd probably be pissed he let it go so cheap.
I've got a Suhr Aldrich a Duncan Classic Stack+ and a Duncan 1/4 pounder going in with a push/pull pot to split the Aldrich.
I ordered a custom pickguard through Perle Guitars. Once that work is done this should be a gigging work horse.

Before pick, you can see how bad the hardware looked.

Congrats beautiful guitar love the wood grain on the top and the color the pick guard goes good with that color too.

Gorgeous guitar dude! Love that finish, I bet it plays amazingly well.
