2008 Gibson Les Paul R8

Actually got it last Wednesday. I had originally bought a 2012 Les Paul Trad+ back in December and decided to send it back to upgrade to a R8. And, I'm glad I did! After a proper setup, I couldn't be happier. The Trad+ was nice, but I really connected with this R8. Weight comes in at 9.2 pounds.

Beautiful.
I prefer a plaintop over figures any day.
Perfect!
Congrats.

Yeah I love figured tops and all, but I've grown to side with others that prefer LP's with plaintops. They just seem more right in appearance, IMO. More traditional and what not. I'm just floored everytime I play it....that tone!

great guitar, i love gibsons and the R8 is awesome.

Looks awesome. The Gibson R8 is on my wish list and has been for a while. Just need to find the right one.

I love the plain top bursts. Seems like every company is jumping on the flame/quilt tops these days.

I love my 2002 PRS flame top but when it comes to Gibson LP's I prefer the plaintops.

Damn Son!! Nice!! Now get some sweat on those shines parts and dull them up!

Thanks, fellas....I feel like it's the first "real" LP I've ever owned. Now I see why so many people favor the Historics. First thing I noticed right away was that the nut was actually cut correctly on the R8, compared to the Trad+ I had....smooth tuning/bending....no "ping!" as the strings get snagged within the nut slots.

I've had a Trad too which was my main ax for a long time, but as soon as I went to Suhrs and Les Paul Customs it felt like a toy in many ways, haha.

real nice
what color is that?

I asked the seller the same question, and he said he thought it was "Bourbon Burst" .....but, also said it's real close to "Tobacco Burst"....almost like a mixture between the two.
