NGD: Ibanez RG1070FM Premium (Prestige beat-up!)

Got this guitar nearly 3 weeks ago. Was blown away by how good it is. Thought it might just be honeymoon effect. But I have to say, it's now my favourite guitar amongst a family of Genesis & Prestige RG's and a JS1200. I purchased it just to try out and was planning on sending it back under a 30-day-no-questions-asked return policy. I was certain that this Premium Ibanez wouldn't hold a candle to my Japanese models. But I've experienced the complete opposite. I even sold off one of my Genesis RG's to make way for it.

Check out these specs...
NECK - Wizard 11pc Panga Panga/Maple/Walnut/Purpleheart with Stainless Steel frets.
BODY - Flamed Maple top and African Mahogany body.
FRETBOARD - Bound Panga Panga.
BRIDGE - Edge tremolo bridge.













It's a very solid guitar. Weighs in at almost 9 lbs. Only thing I don't like is the glossy neck finish. But I'm going to satin it up, so that's not an issue.
And I've pulled the Dimarzio's already. I'll be trying out an Australian winder's pickups in it. Mr Fabulous' Panama buckers and his Flame Tree single-coil in the middle.

Anybody else tried a Premium Ibanez? What did you think?
Are they consistent on the QC or did I just get lucky?

I bought one 5 years ago and wasn't so lucky. Waited like 3-4 months after ordering from Sweetwater and when it finally arrived there were multiple issues and I wound up sending it back.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was expecting, but it totally took me by surprise how good this one is. I did tell the salesman on the phone that it would be sent back to them if I found any issues with it. He told me he'd pick out their best one for me.

Yeah the mahogany has some real sweet grain patterns.
