A mystery for sure. It's too bad the JCF forum is so dead these days. Some of the guys there would be able to figure it out for sure.

Yeah. It's a mystery.

I am holding onto it anyways so it's not a big deal. I absolutely love the damn thing.

That's the important thing. I've had a shit ton of USA and Japanese Jacksons over the years, mostly King Vs, but also some RRs, Soloists, Dinkys, and even a Fusion, and will attest that the Japanese models were every bit as good as the USA models.

I love my Japanese Jacksona to death I have 10+ of them. Then one MIJ Charvel, and a USA Charvel, and am buying a MIJ Charvel later today.

Funny you mentioned a fusion. I bought one for under $50 local and I just did a good clean up (REALLY NASTY) on it and got $500 out of it online a few years back.

My Japanese RR Professional played better and sounded better than the USA RR1 that cost significantly more than it, had almost the exactly same specs, only difference being the floating bridge, pickups, and tuners.

Japanese RR was $350
USA RR was $1150

Sold the USA RR locally, still have the Japanese RR.

Nice. Congrats. If it has "Made in the USA" after the logo its a done deal. I doubt anyone would go through the trouble of putting that on there, with all the work necessary to make it seamless. It might be a proto as others have said. I've had one SL3, GREAT guitar that is almost as good as the few SL1s I've had. The USA versions did have better tone. But all fantastic players. The one I wish I had back was a 90 SL1 with Eerie Dess non swirl finish..that was an AMAZING guitar, active mid boost circuit. Awesome.

I went over the headstock with a magnifying glass. There is no way in hell it could be fake. Not to mention perfect placement and font and spacing.

I love my MIJ Jacksons, that's for sure. I also have a 1991 Dinky professional that I am selling just the neck and body. Kept the other bits. If anybody is interested let me know. I resprayed the body because it was all messed up. Came out nice. It is on reverb.

It could be a prototype that was built in the US to show a Japanese factory rep what they wanted in an SL3? The reason I mention this is, on the JCF forum somewhere there's a thread about a Charvel Model 6 that appears to be a USA version...and was confirmed to be a prototype made in 85 for the Japanese reps to examine as an example of what they wanted in production. I'll see if I can find the thread.
