NGD: Kramer Stagemaster

Yeah, I never had any Kramers until just a few years ago, oddly enough. Now I have those two, and a Sambora mutt that´s one of the KRS models for the japanese market but fitted with the neck and Floyd system from some American-series guitar of the same vintage.
My first shred guitars were Kramers. Three Pacers, the first I added the Floyd myself with literally zero knowledge of how to do it lol. No clue about spacing or anything but I did it, had to route out the rear, filed down the bone nut for the locking nut, crazy to think about now but it worked lol.

My second Kramer had one of the best necks on guitar I've ever owned. Third Pacer was junk, traded two Pacers plus cash on an ESP Mirage Custom right when ESP came out. Nobody knew who ESP was at the time but I was all about ESP for the next decade plus.

Nice guitar!!! I gigged a transparent teal/ blue 89 stagemaster back in the day.I loved it.Lots of sounds in it.

Yeah, I can´t remember exactly what those standard Duncan singlecoils are (maybe the Alnico II Pro) but they´re very nice, and like I mentioned earlier the JB gets a whole different vibe in parallel. Never tried it like that, but for someone like me who gravitates a bit toward bridge singlecoils as well it absolutely splits the difference in a cool way.

I recently purchased a new LTD Mirage Deluxe and it is the best guitar I've ever played. Great quality build.. it feels and plays so nice and is very versatile. I wonder how it compares to the OGs?

Yeah not sure. The OG ESP's IMO, that era in the late 80's to early 90's were the best they ever made. I tried going back to them several times but they just didn't feel right. Necks, weight etc... just felt off plus I dislike the headstock they had to go to after the Jackson lawsuit. All of mine were the original lawsuit headstock.

Hi guys, just as I thought I was pretty much done buying guitars an old buddy told me he was selling this. He barely plays at all anymore, so he was about to clean out some stuff. Anyway, we were in a band together 20-25 years ago and I always had a soft spot for - and fond memories of - this particular Kramer. It´s in great condition, apart from the general neglect, but after a round of fret work and a set-up it absolutely rocks again. I do remember it being a more vibrant pink back then, I wonder if it´s faded a bit or if a polish will bring back the "flourescent pink", as they called it.

For those not familiar, this is basically a ESP Horizon from the late 80s in a different trade dress. Really digging the JBJ in the bridge with the parallell option on that mini toggle.

Just magnificent. Congrats!

My ESP Eclipse played like smooth butter.
But it was so damn nice I didnt want to ding or scratch it.

Had a Vernon Reed in Dayglow/geometric shapes.
Played like it was on fire but no tone.

I'd Imagin the LTD has tone/feel

The new current production SM1s use the same neck as The 84 models......

So it's like the next step up if You love an 84, and the new SM1s look killer and have some solid hardware and electronics too *_*

This Horizon Custom is on sale for $600 off. It looks similar to the Stagemaster.. I'm thinking it would be a better guitar to the modern Stagemasters.. I just don't like that it doesn't have fret markers on the fretboard.

That's a steal! Korean made, neck thru, ebony FB, Duncan pickups, Floyd Rose... I had the exact same version in black as a teenager from GrassRoots, the budget brand of ESP.
Those LTD Horizon Customs are over 1600 euro's in Europe (~$1860 USD). :cautious:

And yes, owning the SM-1 RI, I'd probably prefer the H-S config from the LTD Horizon Custom over the H-S-S config, since I do very, very, veeerrry little with that middle pickup.

I'd get it if it had fret markers.

thats pure sex

Another small feature I noticed last night is that the bridge in split mode plus the middle singlecoil are hum-cancelling together. The two singles together are not, though, so I guess it´s the coil from the JB that´s reverse to the singles.
