I've gotten a couple new one's, but really wanted to start with this for sentimental reasons. My little Pit girl, Trixie, had to be put down in April of this year. When I found out she had cancer I was broken. She had been my girl for over 13 years, late 20s through almost all of my 30s. I didn't want to let her go, but time was not on her side. I thought about how I could honor her and decided why not go with my second love, music.. third if you count my wife. ;) I contacted Jerry @ Luxxtone and Brad, they walked me though this from start to finish and could not have been a better experience. Well, it showed up today! My custom built Luxxtone El Machete 22 "Trixiecaster" and it couldn't be finer in a perfect world. There were many changes on the fly as Jerry contacted me with suggestion. From the dog tag idea to the original Floyd to the Brass volume knob and strap pins. I'll lead you off with a Couple of pics of Trixie to give you an idea of what he had to work with.

I'd like to thank Jerry, Brad and "the finish guy" at Luxxtone. This guitar will be with me forever! Truly the best way that I could honor the 13 years of service she gave me.

Awesome dude. I remeber you talking about her. ;)

Yeah, she was put upstairs when you came over to try out the CCV. Her favorite spot was in front of a 4x12.  No wonder she was deaf towards the end. :D

Truly a masterpiece! What an awesome way to honor your beloved dog. I understand what you went through. I lost a piece of me several years ago when I too lost my dog to cancer. He was a Shepard / Doberman mix. He was so special that I'm convinced there will never be another. It was like I lost a piece of me that day.

It's true. No other dog can replace "the" dog, we currently have three Pits. Liberty Belle, our three year old and we recently in March rescued two Pit pups from the same litter, Roz and Penny, just prior to Trixie being diagnosed. Surprisingly, Roz has a bunch of Trixie qualities. I'm a dog guy, obviously. Thankfully, my wife is the same. Here's a pic of Trixie with the pups a few days before her passing. They are MUCH bigger now.

And not to leave Liberty Belle out. Here's a pic of Trixie with Liberty Belle. They all love the hose game.

That is awesome!

Thanks, Gary. It really is a masterpiece. I can't recommend Luxxtone enough for a custom guitar. Jerry takes care of you.

What a great story and an awesome guitar! I can relate....Our Beagle, Stevie Ray had to be put to sleep this past April because he had a very aggressive form of Lymphoma. He was 15 years old and we had him since he was 3 months old.

What a great way to honor your buddy!

Thank you Drew from ordering your Luxxtones and everything else from me. You are a great customer and this is a killer guitar!

That is just plain awesome and quite original!!!   Congrats!!! I have been through losing a dog twice and have been there to have both put down. It is one of the worst feelings ever!!!!

Cannot wait for my Luxxtone!! Jerry's guitars are the best IMO and he and Brad are great to deal with!! Do you have the spec sheet to share?

You're right.....there is no replacement for Trixie and nor should there be. Her memory will live on forever while you forge new memories with your other dogs. Each of them in their own right will create new memories and happiness. It's awesome to not only have a great guitar that celebrates Trixies's life but it will bring back the fond memories every time you strike a note or chord. I'll bet that guitar will add a certain degree of passion and feeling to your playing given what it represents.

Yes, I'll take a picture of the spec sheet tomorrow.

What a neat, creative thought! What a great sentimental piece of work that will always be a reminder of what some consider a member of the family. IMO, good call. Can you feel the short hairs on the body when you lean your arm on it? If it was not for the sticking out of wood grains it would not be far off for someone to get that visual impression from it.

Ya, this was not only a touching thread - I mean that - it's also an awesome sentiment to the work that can be done when people put love into their craft. Congrats on an amazing ax, and a very very cool and heartfelt heritage to such a guitar.

Mega props, totally honorable man... Very cool.
