So Guitar Fetish had a pretty good sale for the July 4th weekend. I've always liked this model (XV-840) but it's never in stock. I decided to take the chance on one and it arrived yesterday while I was at work.
Funny side note... My wife told me that the UPS guy referenced to me as "Mr Guitar". Hahaha.
Anyway, the fit and finish is pretty good on this thing. I only found one minor imperfection in the upper horn where it was cut weird but I had to really look for it to see it.
The only major con at this point is that when I removed the strings, the ferrules popped out. Wtf?!?! I'll have to secure them later.
Also, I bought a Dragonfire hotrail pickup for the bridge. I'll probably install that in a week or so.
I only got to play the guitar for a short while due to a pain in my wrist but so far so good. The neck is incredibly comfortable in the neck pick up sounds pretty good. I think it will sound good paired up with the Dragon fire.
And for those that are assuming that this doesn't fit my style, it is pretty different from the other guitars that I own but I've been using less game and playing more melodically instead of just high gain shred these days.
Not bad for less than $190
