So far I love it .... I will say it's bright sounding ... the pick ups really surprised me ... I've never liked any Gibson pickups I've had come in a guitar until now ...
The shape and feel of the neck is perfect IMO ...
If I were to bitch about anything it would be the lack of locking Grovers

I'm going to replace the orange drops with Emerson Paper in Oils ... and maybe change the values .... we'll see what that does to the over all brightness .

Swapping out the orange drops will be a positive change 100%. I find they slightly scoop out the mids and push more bottom and top end.

The PIO will do you well.

You could keep what Gibson used to use as stock at .033 or you could throw an .022 on the neck and something slightly larger on the bridge like .033 or .047.

I've had the 498t come in a couple of mu Gibsons... I couldn't yank them out fast enough

I had that as a factory pickup in an ES333 I had. Through my four hole that thing smoked, could've easily left it in there.

No different than my LP Standards ....

I wouldn't know what else to compare them too ...

All my guitars seem to have different sizes ... other than my Warmoth strats where I purposely picked the same size

I've had the 498t come in a couple of mu Gibsons... I couldn't yank them out fast enough
I've only played my Custom through my Ceriatone 800 ... today / tonight I'll plug it into my higher gain options ...

I think these days, Gibson USA might be using Jescar 47095 or the equivalent (like Sanko 214; I'm sure there are others).

It's not what they start with, it's what they do with it before sending it out. My Les Paul Jr. had an average fret height of .036 which I guess still falls in line with Medium Jumbo frets but too low for me. I think they're falling asleep at the Plek machine.

Working on a deal this evening. I might have to let my Edwards go to fund it. I went to GC and played LP's going up to 4k including a new standard and a new Supreme and none of them were any better than my Eddie....

What is the neck like? Fat? Thin? 60's slim? Gibson's description of the neck carve and thickness leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm in love with the neck ...... I don't know a lot about the Gibson neck carves ..... I have two Standards and the necks are definitely different ... but I have no idea what they are ...

either way it's different from both of them ....
