Just got this behemoth in the mail today, unfortunately only able to run it in 100w mode right now but its still punchy as fuck. Supposedly the 200w mode is where its at when it comes to low end clarity.

No quite sure what my intentions are with it, but Doomriders use one and CoC/Down have been using it live for a while, so just gonna roll with it.

Couple clips from my first 15mins with it using a...Jackson Pro Dinky w/ BKP Miracle Man -> EQD Plumes (clean boost) -> Orange TH200 (CH2) -> Boss WAZA TAE -> V30 (57+421) IR

Unboosted:

Boosted:

My poor recording skills really fail to capture the punch, but given I have that problem with a lot of amps I think I'm the problem here.

I would love to try it. I have never played more than 150 watts, but that thing punched

Nice tone. Definitely prefer it boosted

Crank those mids all the way up, and back off the bass.
Channel B only has a shape knob lol. I think its just a mid scoop/boost? Gotta read more still....

Channel A I only used for about 30 sec but was noticeably less gain at similar knob settings for Vol/Gain.

I have found that my favorite tones in the room rarely record that great.

that's one way to keep the rest of the band in line, and establish your complete sonic dominance.

HNAD & Enjoy!

Can’t you just use the attenuator knob a little in 200 watt mode to feed the TAE? I’m pretty sure it’s just a post phase inverter Master, not really an attenuator.

Probably? Haven't got that far lol, gotta cook dinner with the family but hopefully get more time tonight.

Google said it's after the MV but before the output transformers, so in theory it will let the 6550s cook?

Either way, I have all my amps behind a switcher/attenuator so I tend to level match everything to whatever amp requires the loudest volume for a good sound. Will play around cranking this Orange but I suspect the 6550s will be clean most way up.

I plan on upgrading to the Friedman IR-Load when it comes out and it supports 300w, so it'll be glorious in due time.

clips arent working for me, i want to hear this thing! always wanted to try one

Edit: i hear it now, definitely has that orange grind! i dig

It's a baxandall eq that cuts bass+treb on the left and boost them on the right. But basically works like a mid cut/boost.

I think the Dark Terror and Thunder amps also use the same bax control. I loved the TH30 my roommate had and would love to have a TV at some point.

Ah this makes sense to my ears. I kinda wish it had a full EQ but it still sounds great. Maybe I'll throw one in the loop. Would be sick if someone could mod it to just use Channel A's controls because that channel kinda sucked.

There's a slightly overpriced one on Perfect Circuit if you need to feed your GAS, this is where I got mine (and for $200 less for some reason). No tax and free shipping helped me swallow the price tag since on Reverb/eBay you're probably paying $2100 plus those things on top.

Looking at the pics I like that you can change up which two tubes are used on the half power switch. Keep the tube wear more even.
