Not the best pics but you get the idea. If anyone wants specific pic angles or whatnot I will take more.

Likes: looks, obviously

Smooth neck

Really comfortable sitting down playing

Control knobs are smooth

Dislikes: neck dive is not severe but its there

Output jack placement is annoying and the strap gets in the way of plugging it in.

Pickups are not great. They are supposed to be their "in-house" brand highest output pickup but my EMG equipped guitar crushes these pickups. If I decide to keep it Im most likely gonna have to swap them out.

Now I only have about a half hour of playing time so far so its early yet. This axe will take some getting used to for sure...when I switched back ti my main axe it felt like...ah I'm home again. So the pickups are very bright sounding, a little bit ice picky, but lacks the growl that I am used to getting from my EMGx equipped guitar. If anyone has any recommendations as to what I get that will yield similar results...

I got this guitar in 4 days after being shipped from Austrailia (im in US)...so it came way faster than I thought it would. If I decide to keep it, I will have to re-string it and set it up for drop B as thats what my band plays in. So maybe its a combination of the pickups and current string/setup/tuning but its not as aggressive sounding as I hoped. But it looks killer and flawless afaik so far. I need to spend more time with it....but this the most expensive guitar ive ever owned, and my first Ormsby!

It certainly looks badass. Sounds like you just need to put EMGx in there since that's what you dig

Looks killer! There’s a great freight forwarder in AU. It’s all through Ups expedited. Only charge 200 but you can’t value over 2k

Congrats! Love the color :inlove:.

What kind of neck construction is this? Neckthrough? Cause it looks like the body is swamp ash or smth and the neck is obviously maple.

I may have to!

Yes neckthrough and yes swamp ash. Good call. I was worried about the upper fret access on the bass side of the neck but it is no issue. It's very comfortable and smooth.

Congrats man! That thing is wild. The color is awesome. It seems to me that most of these variations on star shapes (and explorer shapes for that matter) have neck heavy tendencies. Both my Lado Lazer and my Zeegler Valkyrie are slightly neck heavy. Nowhere near as bad as my old Jackson Kelly though.

You luthiers need to find an elegant way of weighting the guitar near the control cavity maybe? Maybe bore out a hole, fi ll it with some lead then plug it to counter balance the neck dive?

I should try that. I built a bolt on prototype of the Valkyrie before finalizing the design and I still have it. I'm sure having a Floyd would help a little because it's gotta be heavier than a TOM. Maybe I'll get the prototype out and bore a big hole in it and fill it with lead shot.

I was brainstorming about this for a build I inquired about.

Hey man. I haven't forgotten about you. I'm slowly getting the shop cleaned up and organized. It should go a lot quicker once the weather starts to warm up a bit. I'll keep you in the loop.

Kiesel headless X shape probably doesnt have neck dive I would imagine. So if you like decapitated guitars then that might be for you. The lead weight idea is a good idea, and it shouldnt make the guitar too heavy.

That is very similar. I'd never seen that before
There weren't many of them made. It's Rob Cavestany's design. (Death Angel)

They seem to have a hard time getting them consistent. Here's a pic of Rob with his original and you can see how different the cutaway is.
