I know I’m 10 plus years behind! Bought the 2020 blue on earlier this year. Everything a LP should be IMO. Pickup the killer burst yesterday. It’s a 2022. Neck profile feels different and they sound different which is a plus. Any other 594 players?

I’ve been looking at Single Cuts for a better priced Les Paul type guitar but I’ve never liked the sound of a PRS. Is it as simple as changing the pickups or do they just inherently sound “under nourished”.

I had both a Singlecut and one of these. Only sold to fund my house and a trip. I will have another one day. They are amazing guitars 😍

I find the opposite. The newer 594s have the 59/15 pickups and imo they are killer sounding. Doesn’t sound like a PRS to me.

I agree. I had a 2020 LP.Standard 50's at same time and they were very similar with the PRS just slightly hotter but otherwise almost indistinguishable.

I have had a few single cuts and a HB II. I think they are incredible guitars and they do not suffer as badly from the plastic, nasal tone that so many other do. Not sure what it is but, it is the PRS sound and fortunately the 594 has less, but still when a/b with e LP. The LP sounded beefier and chunkier every time. The 59/15 LT sounds super clear and I like them , but still, the LP always wins to my ears.

I’ve been looking at used S2 594 single cuts. Do you think if you put in some decent aftermarket pickups it would satisfy the LP tone jones?

LOVE the double cuts! I’ll have to try an older one sometime to see how the neck profiles match up. I picked up an S2 before I bought mine and the profile from memory was pretty close.

I snagged one earlier this year. A single cut (in my sig). Went for more of an Les Paul Custom vibe since it’s got a maple neck (flamed/roasted) and ebony board. I really love the size of the frets. Feels exactly like what I expect a medium jumbo to actually be. Really dig the neck shape too. It came with 58/15LT’s in it but they aren’t quite my jam. They do sound beautiful for different styles that I’m not into right now. Super squishy and do the “bloom” thing. Some days I do wish it was a 12” radius, though my playing tells me it doesn’t matter. It’s my go to.

I think they definitely scratch that itch and they play and sound great as they are. Aftermarket pups may make it closer, but I always leave my PRS as is and let them just stay in their lane so to speak. For fat LP chunk, I think best to just straight to he source and get a LP. but that is not to say 594 single cut is not a fantastic on its own merit.. it absolutely is!! BUT If you want a LP get a LP. sort of the same as if you want a Marshall just get a Marshall. Just my .02. YMMV

I feel like it will. To my ears, it’s like a more defined LP tone. Clear, less muddy if that makes sense.

I've got a Tremonti which is just a hot-rodded single-cut and it RIPS. Stock pickups are great! Big and fat, just like a big ol' juicy butt, in the best way imaginable.

I’ve played a few 594’s that I really liked.

Been on the lookout for a nice used one for a while now, just haven’t come across the right one yet.

So far, the only PRS pickups I’ve really liked are the \m/ and 58/15LTs. I had a 2014 LP Trad and an LP Studio - both of which I let go when I got my 2018 594. Pickups are great for what I’m going for, super comfortable to play, good neck shape for me, and so well built. I still want a Singlecut version.

How do you like the maple neck / ebony board combo? It’s not a common mix, but there aren’t too many ebony 594’s around unfortunately.

The neck is really awesome! Has a 3D flame to it in the light which is fun. My brother has a custom 24 with a roasted flamed neck too and that started my pursuit of wanting one on a PRS. I’d say everything is probably snappier with the typical tone wood comments you hear. I definitely play faster on it than even my charvel with the speed neck which was surprising to me. If I could do it again I probably wouldn’t get a matte finish on the body, matte or raw necks I definitely prefer though.

Been looking at the \m/ pickups a bit too and a motor city 2nd degree BB but we shall see where I land. The Tremonti isn’t bad by any means, it’s pretty great actually - I just am curious to switch things up to find what my personal recipe for the rest of the guitar is. If I was still playing my tan pants gigs I would have left the 58/15LT’s in.
