NGD! Revv G8 is pretty dope - Vid Added

So the guys from Revv amps announced their new noise gate last night via live stream. I think it’s out for sale now. They sent me one a couple of weeks ago to check out to see what I thought of it. It’s pretty damn sick!

I guess it’s based on the gate in their new mark three series line, with more functionality. Namely the Hold and Release functions.

I’ve run it with all the amps in my little home studio, and as best I can tell there’s no effect on tone whatsoever. I know guys have said that other gates have had a bit of town suck with their situation. Have yet to experience that, I will definitely do more off/on recordings to see if anything translates differently.

Looks cool. I have a Zuul and it works really good. But it does change the tone a little so I don’t use it. Curious to know if this one will be more transparent.

Great stuff as always, dude. I can concur, the Revv G8 is gr8.

I used it for the last two weeks at pratice in a small room, and between it killing the noise from my overdrives with them being routed through the loop of the G8, and accurate front end gating, no complaints on my end.

It sounds great in the video and pretty transparent. The Zuul isn't so dramatic that I think you'd hear it in a video though. It's more a "feel" and in the room type of thing. It adds this treble or high end that is hard to describe. Do you hear anything like that in the room with the Revv? I'll grab one if it's truly transparent.

Ok I listened again at the 5:50 mark or so and I swear I'm hearing a slight high end boost when engaged. But maybe it's just me. I don't think it's anything unreasonable, I just get weird and OCD about the tone changing at all. I'm probably just too picky.

Thanks bud! I'll be using it this weekend at a private KISS gig so that'll be the first live run with it. One of the biggest surprises making this was how much I like the Dual Rec UNBOOSTED! LOL!

To be clear, I’ve liked my Zuul. The extra functionality here as well as offloading the buffer is nice. I’m going to see if I can get hands on with the Zuul+ and maybe see how these to stack up.

Really like this G8 though. I’d like to grab a Deadweald Golem as well and see what’s doing with that.
