Got a new Strat today, in the style of Mick Mars.

Guitar is a USA Strat:
- Alder body w/maple neck
- 9.5" radius neck with jumbo frets
- 70's headstock
- 4-ply tortoise pickguard (HSH) and backplate
- Original Floyd Rose with R9 nut (low profile w/bullet recess)
- Bourns tone pots (Bourns 500k Audio Tapers)
- Bourns YJM Hi-Speed Volume Pot (500K)
- pickups (JB (bridge), STK-S9b Hot Stack (middle), '59 (neck)) wired with vintage Gavitt Cloth cover
- Tone cap (Orange Drop 0.022 uF @ 600V)
- Parchment Knobs
- Switchcraft input and 5-way selector
- Olympic White

Nice!

I don't recall Fender making a U.S. Strat with a Floyd and 70's headstock. Is this a factory model? If so, what's the model name? I'm interested in tracking one down.

Looks awesome. Frets are huge, too. I'm guessing a parts guitar or something with a substantial amount of upgrades/custom work.

thats killer. did you add the floyd??

I picked up a used Fender USA Nitro Series Strat (maple neck-jumbo frets-70's headstock) and had it routed for floyd nut, humbucker in the neck and floyd bridge. It was then stripped, painted (nitro lacquer) and assembled with the new parts.

All of the work was done locally here in North Carolina - routing and assembly http://www.wlguitars.com/ and paint http://www.rowycokustoms.com/RK_about.html

Nice! I did something similar to my Jackson Adrian smith, but didn't get it repainted yet..

About the only type of Strat I can deal with!

Looks nice!

Only thing I have close is a Charvel So-Cal.

Really nice. You need to drag it behind a car & relic it for that authentic Mick look
