grrrrrrrrrrrreetings!

i bought these a while ago and finally managed to give em to my tech last month. two gibson explorer back in business, yessir!

top one is from the gothic series in '99 and the diamond plated exp used to be a 'century xplorer' from a limited run a couple of years ago, when gibson did all sorts of weird shit. gibson sold it with a mirror bodyplate (which was hideous of course) so i knew what to do

Very nice. One of these days I'm gonna pick up another explorer. I think I have one of those steel diamond-plate pickguards laying around on a shelf somewhere, and no explorer to put it on.

Is it just me or does the ESP Sexplorer look huge next to the Gibsons?

yes, absolutely. the POV/angle forces it a little bit but the gibson explorers are like 5% "smaller".

I used to dream about having an explorer because I was such a huge fan of the Scorpions back then. I worked summers baling hay so I could buy one back in 1985 (I was 16) - it took me 2 summers to save the money. I finally had enough so I bought it. It was one Matthias Jabs signature version - white with black stripes. Less than 2 weeks later, after responding to a flyer looking for a rhythm guitar player, this kid came and picked me up to go to the tryout because I didn't have a car. We stopped and picked up another kid who was 18 who said he was the drummer... I didn't know where we were going and they drove me out in the middle of nowhere and kicked me out of the car... last time I saw my new Gibson Explorer. Hard lesson learned for a 16 yo kid. They also got my Roland Stereo Chorus amp.

I have to ask cause I see this all the time, what does "GAS" stand for, besides what I put in my cars and motorcycles, or what happens when I eat certain foods.
I get the meaning, that someone really wants one, but typically most people don't want excessive or even a little "gas" when it comes to digestion.

I have a gothic explorer too. I got it when I was 17, it was my first Gibson
