That diamond plate explorer looks killer. I've never really been a fan of explorers but that one gave me instant GAS

I have to ask cause I see this all the time, what does "GAS" stand for, besides what I put in my cars and motorcycles, or what happens when I eat certain foods. :)
I get the meaning, that someone really wants one, but typically most people don't want excessive or even a little "gas" when it comes to digestion. :D

you've got it bad and don't even know it.... :D

Gear Aquisition Syndrom

And I thank you. :)

Nice!

I have a gothic explorer too. I got it when I was 17, it was my first Gibson

My first real guitar was a 1982 Gibson Explorer E/2, not the contoured body.
It had an ebony fret board, cherry sunburst, cream binding, with TP6 tail piece, gold hardware.
Weight was something like 250lbs.
I bought it in '83 used. Bought it for $350.
It was gorgeous. Awesome tone, great playability, HEAVY as heck.
My current neck and back problems can probably be traced back to how often that guitar sat around my neck. :)

I should have NEVER NEVER NEVER sold it.
Stupid, stooopid, stoooooooooooooopid!
It's a collector's guitar now easily worth over $2500 given it's condition.
Don't know what condition it's in now.
But when I owned it for 7-8 years I kept it in the same condition as when I bought it, and it was only a year old and near mint.
Did I mention how STOOOOOOPID I was?
Yeah, I did.

WOW, I found my guitar on e-bay!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1982-Gibson-E2- ... 2c82d3e7e4

That one looks just like mine.
It's in Michigan about 300 miles from me.
But mind didn't have a flamed neck, but the body flame was nicer than this one, and that saddle doesn't look the same.
$3200!!!

I'm lucky. I put mine on ebay about two years ago, it sold. The guy backed out of the sale, claiming that he lost his job the day that the auction ended :scared: Oh well, whatever happend, I'm glad. I decided not to contact the other bidders and kept it. phew

Awesome Konan! Would love to see the whole explorer collection!

yeah me too actually, haha ;) I'll never get around to take a family pic but that's definitely on the 'do to' list once I have them all in one place.

Who's the manufacturer of the Deer Skull EXP??

russian custom shop called Shamray, which is now out of (international) business. they only sell to russian customers these days. basically the same story as with my RAN custom explorer: I caught both custom shops at their peak and got top notch guitars. to be fair/honest, I've also heard & seen others instruments from the same shops that weren't nearly as great so I wouldn't recommend them anymore.

the only custom shop that would see my money nowadays is Kenneth Lawrence ;)

I've been watching these on eBay for at least a year. They're going for a little over $1700. I was floored a few weeks ago when I found one that was just the body. That's what I'd love to have cuz I really don't give a shit about original hardware, electronics, etc. Dammit if I wasn't the 2nd highest bidder. It worked out ok I guess because I ended up getting great deals on an EVH cab and a Bogner cab. Still, my next guitar will be a tobacco burst E2. Fuckin beautiful axes.
