I expected to find a guitar with a tone of wear on it but it looks like a relic job gone bad. I'd probably refinish it. If it were natural wear, I'd leave it.

Yeah it looks like someone was in the middle of stripping it down then gave up.

Finally got to use it in a band setting last night. The Lace Finger Burners are hot as shit, but sound great. The neck pickup is down right amazing, but I'm still trying to feel out the bridge how ever. The bridge pickup does palm mutes very nice, but anything else comes across as almost dry.

All in all the guitar is definitely going to be one I keep for a while. Played great! Would suggest an 84 Gibson explorer to anyone !

If it were mine, I would sand it down and just clear coat it, and leave the neck unfinished.

If you are just playing it than keeping it the way it is, is a good idea. If you ever plan to sell, than I would refinish for sure.
