Just picked up this 2001 Ibanez J. Custom RG1880SNT. Been wanting a J. Custom for a while now. I'm not a huge fan of the "Tree of Life" inlay that comes on the newer JC's (I just think it should stay on the Vai models) so I have been looking for one without. I fancy "natural" finishes (which started with my N4) and mahogony bodies. This thing sounds as thick as my LP's. This neck is thicker than my other Ibby's but the flat radius keeps it in the "shredder" comfort zone, and probably helps with the tone. I'm really diggin the pearl nickel hardware. I have never seen this before but it has a very cool brushed metal look to it. I think I found my new #1.

OMG! Fuckin righteous! That could be my #1 also! Exceptional guitar man! I am a total RG lover. THat thing is super coolio!

Damn, simply stunning! Congrats man, that thing is beautiful. Bet it plays like a champ too.

Thanks guys.

I've been on the hunt now for about 2 years. Glad it's over. The thing is I tried playing my Prestige after a few hours of playing the JC and the difference is incredible. I don't think I can ever go back now.

I'm not sure if I have ever been this impressed with the looks of an Ibanez. That thing is breathtaking!!!

Wow man. That trem is MINT. Absolutely pristine. And that thing is 10 years old. Congrats.

Yeah duder... that's a swank axe  . I have a RG750 I'm going to have plek'd. I Love 'em.

Those are great guitars and the ones I have owned had awesome fretwork.
Have fun with it.

I have come to realize that RG's are my "home". My first guitar was a '91 RG770. I would take that guitar on the bus everyday for the various school bands I was in (jazz band, theater, etc.). I would be playing this laser blue "pointy" guitar with sharks teeth inlay as the other kids had there jazzy Fenders and Corts   . I've owned and played many guitars over the years but RG's always feels like I'm going back to my roots.

I KNOW RIGHT!! This color hardware must wear well, unike cosmo black. I haven't seen too many guitars with it so I don't know. However, I don't think this thing was played too much, there is virtually zero fret wear. There are a few knicks around the edge on the bottom, but that just helps me feel better after I ding it. :D

id be lying if i said i wasnt jealous, that guitar is gorgeous dude. i would have never guessed it was a 2001 in that condition and style. the hardware matches the natural finish perfectly - and with those tone woods it no doubt probably plays and sounds killer both.

I love my RG1570 mirrage red, always wanted another ibanez of some sort. Ive owned 3 and although i can play charvels and strats, there is just something about how an ibanez feels to me that feels like home

HNGD dude!

I generally lurk here, but felt the need to log in...that thing is fucking beautiful

color me jealous

BTW i need to pull another digiscott and mention the floor backdrop matches the guitar perfectly, i think its almost staged

I took a few shots of it last night in my basement against a plain wall and carpet and they turned out bland. I wanted to wait until the morning to see what it looks like in natural light. I also thought the hardwood floor in the first floor of my house would match the "earthiness" of the guitar perfectly. The natural light does make the top look a bit more pale as it seems to have more amber in it in person.

Thanks once again to all for the kind words of approval :D

Man..............I have issues.........and bad GAS

I just purchased another natural Ibby.................an RGA121 NT at an awesome price...............pics to follow.
