Just got a cab and an amp I ordered.

The good: Both items arrived today from separate sellers, both were fairly cheap and they rip.

The bad: The cab had one of the wheels broken off during shipping and the amp has a couple of issues; the logo came loose and is flopping around inside the shell and also one of the knobs is completely broken off.

The seller claims the knob was advertised as broken which is not true but the ad is gone so no proof, he isn't offering to help in any way and for the money it's probably not even worth sending back. Plus I like the amp and I'm sure theyre easy repairs. Edit: this is not an easy repair and requires desoldering, lifting pcb and resoldering..I may just have to live with this broken knob.

Oh and the speakers haha. Jerry rigged, it actually has what I believe to be 2 original K85s which is awesome but then the other 2 are random and will need to be swapped im thinking. Still sounds pretty good though for what it is.

Obligatory clips. I don't record, I make cell phone clips. This is on a new to me Caparison Dillinger 7. And spent maybe 30 seconds dialing it in (I like no nonsense amps like this)

The Ultra Plus, one of Peavey's best kept secrets.. Next the VTM. Everyone talks about the 5150, but I'll take an Ultra Plus any day of the week. The local music store has an Ultra half stack that's been sititng in there on consignment for about 3 years but there is something wrong with it so they won't sell it and they can't get in touch with the guy that consigned it to them. I ask about it every time I go in there. LOL Did it come with the foot switch? If not, you're only accessing two of the channels. I can't remember which channel it is that you can't get without the foot switch though. Looks like it's in the "crunch" mode by the color of the logo.

This one did not come with the FS either and I was unaware of that missing channel fact until now.

I do believe it is the crunch channel you cannot access. I will have to test it out because I went straight for the Ultra channel and that is the eq section that worked for me.

Also agree. This is the Best Peavey. I owned a 6505+ twice, I owned a 5150 combo and I played a XXX (xxx- this was decades ago mind you) but I like this Ultra better than the 5150 series.

So much cleaner, HUGE bottom end if desired and just as brutal sounding.

The Ultra Plus has the active EQ in it, so you can dial in some range for sure. I've owned a few 5150/6505's/6505+ and even the 6534 in the past, and IMHO they really missed the boat by not releasing a 60 watt head version of any of those. In the past I've often thought about trying to snatch up another 5150 combo, and either building (or have built) a head case for it.

Been playing with it a bit. The clip was maxed gain but backing off a bit sounds even better, fuller. Cant wait till I get the boost pedals in.

Overall im happy. I paid $400, fixed the logo issue and the knob...well, I can move it and will probably just live with it.
