Damn, Pete. That's one SERIOUSLY badass guitar. I bet it sounds ridiculous through the Friedman or Suhr SL68... you're giving me EVH gear G.A.S again, damnit!

Cool guitar! Great clip!

Would one of those Charvel brass knobs look better on that guitar?

Very cool build...love it!!!

As for screwing the pickup directly into the wood, don't waste your time. Back in the late 90's when I had a music store, a group of us did an experiment with this. We took a Strat mutt and used both high and low output pickups mounted directly and with rings. We recorded the guitar using clean, dirty, and high gain tones. Not one person (all accomplished working players) could hear a difference between the mounting styles (both live and recorded) no matter what combo of pickup and gain setting was used.

Both clips sound great, Pete! You have the VH1 vibe right down!

Cool build! Like someone mentioned looks like the Pagan's gold on the reissue, I think that color looks great.

Clip sounds great as well :) Very Brown

Thanks for this! I'll probably not bother then

Cool clip and I dig the guitar, but that volume knob sticks out like Walter Matthau's nose.
I would change it to vintage white to match the pickup.

It would be cool to be able to split that pickup, have it hooked up to a switch, so you can have the old VH tones and the Diver Down tones as well with Ed's broken double coil.

The Dimarzio Super Distortion kicks but for a brown type tone and I love how it sounds when backing off the guitar's volume, just an all around fabulous rock pickup. I put a brand new SD in a mutt strat recently and I really like it. There is all types of overtones going on in the mids, I find that with the Tone Zone as well, I realy like that.

Ya, it's news to me, i always shunned ceramic mag pickups. But in this application (nailing a plexi for hard rock), it's really cool.
