I don't normally post my new toys on this forum, but figured this one might have a bit more of a broad appeal so...
I've had a couple of Jackson PC1s through the years but for whatever reason, never really bonded with them. I had a 2008 in Mocha which had sustainer issues (surprise!) and just always sounded shitty to me, and then I got an early koa body in Chlorine which I liked a lot more, but had too good an offer to justify keeping. But then I saw Brooks Burton (big Jackson and PC collector) had listed one of his, and it was one with what is pretty much my ideal top (I'm a sucker for that wide quilt!) so I decided to dip my toes back in the silly electronics / massive neck guitar pond LOL Back in 1998 or so, Guitarist mag in the UK did a review of the then new PC1 and I just remember drooling over a double page pic of one in Solar, thinking that it was my absolute perfect guitar..
There's not much else to say, it's 'just' an early 2 knob PC1, probably koa, but definitely a quilt board. Neither Brooks or myself are 100% on the koa, but if I had to bet, I'd say it is - there's just too much going on for mahogany. It's in awesome shape for a guitar which is 17 years old (according to the serial listing on the Jackson site).
Anyway, here's some pics - not ragging on Jackson here, but they just don't seem to come with tops this nice any more:
And just a cheeky pic with my 2011 custom-sorta-nearly-PC1:
Big thanks to Brooks and Vik for getting this to me!
