NIRD Got a Haul

Found all this on Craigslist for $140:

I was mainly after the C.A.B. M, but the USB jack was bent up and unusable. It was included in the deal, as broken, but working. If I couldn't fix it, I can't load my own cab sims. The DOD 285 was included as well. Good enough deal to take a shot.

I got home and unscrewed everything and popped the board out. The jack broke free from the board at the front two mount points, but was fine otherwise. I clamped the jack back into place and soldered it back down. I gotta test to make sure it works, but I can plug a USB cable into it now.

What IRs should I get to try out? I'm new to this world of gear.

I got one of the first Torpedo C.A.B's shipped to the US. Probably had dozens of cab/speaker/mic models and it was tedious even then sorting through them...I used it initially with the Tech 21 Character pedals if anyone remembers those?

Part of me wants to figure out the process to make IRs and just start making my own. I like the results of micing my cabs.

What I haul, some nice units there.

I recently sold a captor X as I was just using it as a DIY power station with no IR loaded.
The Cab M is part of my main ampless rig and use it all the time, just use the stock IRs though. I could use a 2nd for the other board.

No idea on that DOD unit, is it good?

No clue. I haven't tested anything yet. I gotta download an IR to see if my USB port repair worked and try them all out. It would be awesome if that DOD worked out, considering it was free, but it's early IR tech. It could go either way.

Then again, my old guitarist got great results with the sim on the Behringer DI when we first started using IEMs. That V30 sim actually sounded great for what it was.
