I thought esp custom shop prices was high but now jackson is just as bad or worse.

Wow something sounds WAY out of line there. Granted the one I just got was part of a 10 piece run it still was a fraction of that. I'll get in touch with you Greg & stop by with it. She's pretty sweet!!!

for that price you had better get Tito Jackson along with that guitar.

I was doing a custom order with jackson a few years and and after my discouts it was still 5k and i know they took some price increases since then.

I was going to get a customshop soloist untill I got the quote back of $7000. I was one of 6 other guys that said no way to guitar asylum yesterday because of the big increase in jacksons prices and they said the same for fender costumshop as well. I could almost buy two suhr's or prs guitars for that.
Hey HH - One word, QuckSilver. The best all hand made 24-fret electric guitar in the world. Feels better, plays better, looks better than any Jackson or PRS out there. They come with massive features and extras. Takes about 4 months for the build. You can get the standard for under 2K to start with.

Not very "Jackson-ish". I'd also like to buy from someone who might actually APPRECIATE my business... ;)

For $7Gs it better be old and say Fender or Gibson on the business end of the peghead.

I think it's time some CEOs pull their heads out od their ass's and take a look around at whats going on in the world.
+1000!

No kidding!

I'm really trying to figure out wtf happened with instrument prices. $3K was shocking, but sheesh... I just don't get it. Perhaps a new Korean/Chinese/Indian CUSTOM SHOP? Who knows...

I also ride/race bicycles, and the prices on those are coming close to what I'd consider buying used cars for. When a nice production line mountain or road bike STARTS AT $4K, there's a problem.

KxK.

Buy a mint used Jackson and get a luthier to finish it off for ya the way you want it..much cheaper and the luthier will most likely work with ya the whole way thru w/ it...youll have exactly what you want..end of story, everybodys happy...Jackson gets knocked around a lot, but theres no doubt about it, theyre one of thee best metal axes around....having said that,I think that whoever at the factory that sent that quote should go to jail and do time  :bash:

I used to work at Guitar Asylum - the prices for Jacksons are out of control. They're awesome guitars, but I dunno if they're $7000 awesome (especially with nothing particularly custom). We used to have guitars built with all kind of wacky stuff - cracked mirror, custom graphics, custom inlays, you name it and they would rarely crack $4500 retail. I really don't know where Jackson comes up with that kind of pricing, especially right now. PRS has its reputation of being bought by doctors and lawyers for a reason. I don't know that Jackson is in that kind of position in the mind of the consumer. Just my .02...

I'd buy something like a Ken Lawrence for that kind of money!

To jump on the luxxtone-I've played a few of them and they have never disappointed.

I know with certainty they're not 7k worth of awesome :D

Go figure

If you want a 24 fret shredder, order a Suhr Modern....hell, toss in an Anderson Classic and you're STILL under 7k.

Brad, there's nothing wrong with Ed. Ed's a good guy and will take good care of you if you know what you want in a custom guitar.

Have you ever met Ed, Brad?

Talked to him twice on the phone. Hung up both times. Short story is like this...
Me: I want to custome order a BC Rich. I've been playing for over 20 years, thought long and hard about what I want and these are the specific things I want.

Ed: Oh you don't want a Floyd Rose. As soon as BC Rich sees that they'll know they're building a guitar for a kid and won't use their best materials.

After some heated words I hung up on him. He basically wanted me to order what he thought was a nice guitar. He wasn't interested in what I preferred and talked down to me like he was the end all be all authority on what a good guitar is. I called BC Rich and spoke with bernie Rico Jr who was furious. I ordered my guitar through a store in Pittsburgh. 4 months later I had exactly what I wanted. Again thats the short version but you get the idea. I've been on various guitar forums for a long long time and I believe you are the only guy that has had a positive experience with Ed. Thats cool, but I can't recommend him.

I have and was at his compound in CT back in the day. He was a complete dick to me and eventually ripped off my friend after he realized I knew too much and was successful in separating us. While I was playing a guitar he conned my friend on one of his typical PRS mann bridge cons. He does that while doing work on your guitar. He will offer to replace your "old" bridge in this case on a very old PRS and with a new one to an unsuspecting customer. He then over charges for the shit bridge and takes their mann made bridge and then sells it for some ridiculous price. He tried to rip me off on some old Schons and an old Hamer, but I knew he was, so no dice. You ED? I don't think I ever met anyone that stuck up for him on the internet that wasn't him.

I'm a Jackson fan but that price is beyond stoopid...unbelievable!!!

You should check out GMW...Lee builds a great guitar for a great price.

Wow...I bet it'd be a nice guitar...but 7k??

If I had 7k I'd get:

PRS DC3
Suhr Modern
PRS Singlecut

My exact thought. It's almost as if they don't want the work. They couldn't be that busy. Heck, there are dozens of custom shop builders that will build exactly what you want without that kind of price tag (K-Line, Anderson, Suhr, etc).
