1960 Fender brown Concert. 4x10, 40w of vintage badassery. Right between the tweeds and blackfaces in the evolutionary scale. Cabinet is a repro, but electronics are 100% stock with the exception of a 3 prong plug and replaced filter caps. Faceplate and backplate and knobs are original too.

One of the best "organic" tones I've heard was from a 4x10 tweed. Gretch semi hollow w/ boost into amp = heaven. Hope this amp is winner for you!

I've already gutted the chassis and put some mercury mags in there, along with some sozos. Where do I put the diodes for the Jose clipping circuit? :D

What? No digital effects built in?

Congrats! Ive never owned one but a buddy of mine has one and they just have a beautiful sound to them!!

Buddy of mine locally plays 2 of those with a vintage 808 in front. It is GODLY tone. Congrats on the score!

Welcome to the Fender Brownface club Pete. I have a 1960 Brown Fender Super. Great amp. The normal channel is thicker and meaner. The Vibrato channel is a little thinner and more BF in sound by comparison. Just to warn you I see in the forums alot, "I should never have sold that Brown/Blonde Fender"

What's the difference between the super and the concert? 2 speakers? Does yours have 5 or 6 preamp tubes? Killer amps!

This site can provide more detail, but here are the highlights. http://www.ampwares.com/fender.asp

Concert:
4X10
SS rectifier
Different output transformer from the Super

Super:
2X10
Tube rectifier
5 or 6 preamp tubes

My Super has 5 preamp tubes, I would assume your Concert has 5 preamp tubes as well being as its from 1960.

Mine has 6, it's a late 1960 model, at least by the SN. The 6 has a different vibrato circuit, jeff bober from budda says he prefers the 6 tube ones, I have no idea, only heard mine.)

There is no reverb on the Brown Super or Brown Concert. ;)

The 6preamp tube version is supposed to have a nicer vibrato as it uses another half of the extra 12AX7 in the circuit. I am sure there are some other differences too. The buy I bought my Brown Super from had another one that had 6 preamp tubes, which he kept, so obviously he prefers that one. I am very happy with mine though. I got mine as a head and bought a repro 210 combo cab. I can always put it back to a head if I want too, its nice having that option.

Great looking amp Pete! Can't wait to hear some clips/
