Hello Been a while !

I have SD9-9 already since forever on my pedalboard and at low gain setting it's nice, quite smooth though
But I wonder it additionally would add something else for recording sessions playing arpeggios on chord and things like that, that the cats in Nashville and LA use it for a lot

How does those two compare ? Are they both just tubescreamer variations of does ODR-1 have something special
Do some of you guys eventually use both for different sounds ?

Come ooooon !

I used a Nobels, ironically on a session in Nashville, and it sounded nice.
I still prefer my Keeley and Analogman modded TS-9/808's though.

It's green and has the same controls as a tube screamer...what do you think they are copying ?

Thanks for the answers
None of them answers my question though
Maybe I've come to the wrong place for qualified gear talk

I'm going off memory but the ODR-1 does better on the cleaner stuff than the SD9. The SD9 has more gain and less overall output. With that said the SD9 is more aggressive than the Nobels. The ODR through a BF Fender is pure Americana and Country/Rock. The SD9 as you know gets into the Landau/Henderson territory. They are more similar in that they have a lot of bass and the mids are pulled back some. SD9 is more of a distortion and the ODR1 is more of an OD.

Interesting !
and Exactly the kind of reasoning I was looking for. (Thx!)
I use (And love) the SD with the gain dialed pretty low, more like an overdrive
It cleans up pretty nicely
What is a huge plus is that it is build so well and TB too
The ODR-1 seems like not true bypass (tone sucker?)

But that nashville defined crunch on chords
And so it seems, almost compressor style attack might be usefull and a plus worth the 68 €

The Nobels is a fairly obscure pedal. I've worked in music stores in So Cal since 1987 and have never seen or played through one. That's why you aren't getting many responses.

If you want an ODR-1 with better build quality check out a Rockett Chicken Soup, XTS Imperial or a Visual Sound Open Road.
