Noise from Pickups....will an ISP Decimator out front work?

Hey guys!

So I did some testing with my rig noise, and just about all of it seems to be coming from my guitars/pickups....my preamp noise is VERY minimal, and I don't particularly need it silenced....really not worth it IMO.

When testing, I noticed that most of the noise comes in when I roll my guitar volume knob up...when the volume knob is down, the amps are basically dead silent.

Would a regular ISP decimator in front of the amp clean this up without any negative effects? Would it kill my clean channel, or would it be ok since I am only running out front and the gate is triggering off guitar signal?

Would you run it first thing from the guitar, or last thing before the amp?

Id put it 1st in line.

If you set the ISP right it shouldnt choke off anything or effect anything else down the chain. One of my guitars is very noisy. Im too lazy to fix it, but my ISP takes care of the noise very well.

When using a gate in front, I like to put it 1st in line so the other effects dont mess with it and vice versa. Unless I have a noisey pedal.

I've never used the Decimator, but gates in general will silence the signal.

I'd suggest trying it in a few different spots. Most manufacturers will say last in the chain so that it can mute everything, but I prefer to use it early in the chain so that it triggers off the dry guitar tone.

Hell Yes.
I use mine last before my amp.
My effects are in my loop.
I go from Volume pedal, Whammy II, Wah, Phase 90, Decimator.
Dead silent even with florescent lights in rooms.
My rack has the Pro Rack G Stereo, and I get the same results
