Noise Gate recommendations

I only have experience with the G8 but I got one because the built in gate on the Revv amps was so good. Worked really well with any amp I tried it with. I didn’t notice it taking anything away from the tone, you can dial it in to cut off naturally too.
I had a Revv G8 and tried everything in the world to get it to "cut off naturally". Could not get it to achieve that no matter what I did, so I sold it. Solid unit though.

This is the hardest part with a gate. That unnatural sustain

Decimator II G String in 4 cable method. Works perfectly, no tone loss (actually sounds a little better with the pedal engaged).

Do you run it in the loop of in front of amp (with second set of cables)?

I did every setup that was listed. Worked well for killing noise and giving you that modern gain sound, but would just kick in too early for me to be comfy with those 'wiggling' out til it dies lead notes.

Could be the way the Rivera circuit is but yeah, tried in front, in the loop, 4 cable w Key, etc.

Oh yeah. I have never conquered that problem for sure. I was actually replying to soundstorm to see how he is running decimator since I just bought one.

Edit: I say that, but i think running two gate setup is pretty badass with the sustain, because the loop gate was so low that i would only kick on the front of amp gate if i were going for the start stop shit. Both zuuls were keyd. That is a lot to do, but it was kinda nice

I love my MWK Audio Ball Gag. Gave up my NS-2 for it. It's just really transparent.

The guitar goes into the detector circuit of the G String, then into my other pedals (besides tuner) then into the front of my amp, then the loop of the amp goes through the actual gate circuit of the pedal.
Ok. Good. That is how i was planning to use it. I only asked since you say yours is working perfect. The loop is always more powerful at quieting the amp. In front of amp is very powerful for the feel of start/stop.
Right now i am just concerned about cutting the noise

Agreed. It was awful. I returned the one I had fast. There are much better gates out there
I need you in every gate conversation.

I have been wondering lately if noise suppression is the way to go in lieu of gating

I'm using the Zuul+ in front of the amp 4 cable method. Placed right after the tuner and wah. This method works best for what I do.

I'd love to try the FTT gate, especially since it's midi.Put that sucker on a rack tray,( if youre using a rack) assign a cc# to turn it on & off from your midi board out front.( I'm only assuming this,no experience with the ftt.)

I am a huge fan of the Guptech offerings. The Guul was great the SUN is where it’s at

The regular old boss ns-2 always reacted the best to me, and I had a ISP decimator. I don't use a gate at all anymore though, didn't like the way they tone suck. Plus I never use too much gain to need a gate.

I actually plugged straight into my amp for the first time in a long time. I usually run into my wireless, and sometimes a volume after.

The amp was dead quiet at volume (110 db) even facing the amp. So now i realize that the feedback i was getting is somewhere in the power or patch or pedals.

It is both encouraging and annoying. But I wanted to gate for when i use an occasionaly boost pedal, so, the process continues

I just got “the key and the gate” by Litchlaerm audio. The new ones have a switch that gives 3 different timings for different feels/situations.

I plan on running the key after my pickups of course, but the gate after my load box, so I don’t have to use the effects loop

ISP Hum Extractor is the best noise gate I've owned. Better than my Decimator rack in every way but with the additional ability to remove 85% of the hum from single coil pickups. Heard it works for other pickups like P90s too.

I've got an Ig-1N on the way from Japan, definitely love the idea of midi implementation. I'll follow-up once I've had some time with it.
