Noisegate - opinions need !

The only issue with the Decimator is if you use your volume knob, it can start to chop off your sustain very earlier with high gain settings. But most high gain guys don't use their guitar knobs, so if that isn't an issue, the pedal is leaps and bounds better than other gates I've tried. Just a Decinator in front of the amp. I've had the G-String and rack mount version too, and it didnt really work out for me.

So the Decimator should be the best solution for my issue ? When I look at the price of rack mountes units ... Damn , pricey !

You know , My 6534 is really queiet in terms "amp noise" , EMG also. In comparision to SD DM Live Wire - Night and Day.
I haven't any other sound issues, only this damn squeal ...

As you said, your problem is normal with these amps. It's your pickups that take the noise from the amp, active pickups are way more sensitive to noise waves. The more gain you apply or the more volume you crank and it will emphasise your problem. Let us know how the G string react with your amp. I had both the regular and the G string first and II gen + the pro rack G.

Again, the best for me was the Decimator II in front of my amp. If you don't boost the regular decimator will do the job and save you from spending to much money. Be careful of the hype of internet, too much time i bought something from youtube videos and realize that it didn't work as advertise or not that great with my gear.

You also get those squeals ?
You know , I compared my 6534 to regular 6505 and my amp was much more quieter(in term of amp noises like hiss etc) than regular model. I compared them at 1 volume(due to seller). So on the regular modle the situation is probably even worse

You said Decimator II ... This new version is better than regular decimator ? Probably , regular model I or II( non g) will do the trick for me .

Yeah it's better because it's stronger (kills any squeals or feedback from the amp with or without a boost and active pickups at any volume) and more control on the threshold (you have a wider range on the knob before it choke you sound) so you can tweak it more precisely. By the way i don't like the new link system it choke's too much my tone, so i don't use it.

Man everything you talk about i went through that and i paid a lot of money to learn. I never tried the 6534 but i assume that it's not far from my 5150 signature. If it works for me, it will be perfect for you too.

Decimator II in front of your amp, it will solve your problem. Been there, done that!

So it's settled ! I will buy Decimator II .

You have it so you can tell me about it : How far you can set you threshold knob without sucking any tone ? I know the Decimators are probably the best noise gates , but I always wondered if they suck any tone or sustain ?

My settings were half point 50% (-30) with the first generation and about 65 to 70% (-20) for the II. But with the first Gen, i was still having some feedbacks with the boost so i had to stand far away and turn my back to the amp to avoid the noise. You won't have to go that far with your settings if you don't put a boost in front.

It doesn't suck your tone maybe a little sustain but it's the most transparent and the best for what you want to achieve period.

I've used an NS-2 for years and it works great when set correctly, but if I had to get a new one I'd buy the ISP.

what about rack mounted units ? like p;ro rack and pro rack g ? Better than pedal versions ?

And G string will also some amp noise , not only guitar ?
I have a decimator and its great. You dont really need the g string, most of your fuzz comes from your distortion pedals and not anything that you put in the loop. If you did go with the g string it creates a haywire cable frenzy on your board cuz you have 2 ins and 2 outs
