Anyone have any experience wiring up a Strat with the following combination of Seymour Duncan noiseless "stack" single coils, or some combination of the following models?

  • STK-S7 Vintage Hot Stack Plus in the neck position

STK-S4m Classic Stack Plus in the middle position (note: I have had one of these in the middle on one of my Strats and thought it was great)

STKS9b Hot Stack Plus in the bridge

Thanks!

Hey Rob, my personal experience with Duncan singles was very lackluster; Im a much bigger fan of their buckers...

Its all subjective of course but I think that you could definitely find a set of DiMarzios that worked for you in spades...

Dimarzio Area series are awesome sounding.
THIS!!!
Bro Diego, I had the exact same requirements when putting some of my partsocasters together so I spoke with Steve Blucher over at DiMarzio and he reccomended the following;

Area 61-Neck
Area 67-Middle
Area Heavy Blues II-Bridge

and I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!!!!

For true single coils ( Non Noiseless) McCon-o-Wah BEll Tones are my go to all time favorite but for Noiseless singles that cover so much ground while retaining single coil goodness, The above set is all Ill ever use from here on out..

I'm researching the DiMarzio Area pu's. The pu's in my Hendrix Strat ain't making it. neck and middle are ok but the bridge is anemic.

This set looks cool. The Area 67 has less output then the 61. Are there any problems balancing them?

+1. My friend has a strat with 2 Seymour Duncan singles, not sure the models. The neck is okay, the middle is on of the worst single coils I have heard.

Not at all Carl. Ill be honest, I did a bunch of research but the truth is I definitely dont have years of experience with singles. I certainly dont have the time with them like you or Ant have. I had heard all kinds of great stuff about the Area's and the Virtual Vintage and Ive seen Steve Bluchers name for years so I picked up the phone and asked for help.

I was really specific ; I told him guitar type, type of wood, Bridge, styles that I played, Amps used etc etc. He told me what he thought would work best and it couldnt have been more on the money for me..

Pickup the phone and give him call Carl, You obviously know what youre looking for and can be really specific about it...

Hope that helps

Probably not what you're looking for, but the EMG SA's have some nice bell-like chime a la the vintage Strat tone and are dead quiet. No pole pieces though! ;)
EMG SA ftw.

I tells ya, if Gibson ever reissues a (Sensibly priced) sinlge P90 Double Cut Jr... I'm screwed all over again!
They just did not so long ago. They're out of production again but it shouldn't be hard to find one.

That said, I've played a few of these in the past...certainly better than most of the non-custom shop Gibsons that I've played in recent years.

Then there's always this:
