I must have this!

I was in an industrial metal band back in 96/97 and our keyboard guy was huge into the Nord Lead. I love that the mod wheel is made from stone.

For the price the a1's are going for, just get a nord lead, or a lead 2x. The a1 is kind of a crappy reboot of sorts, and new features on it aren't really worth what they are asking vs. an older model. I'd love to have a lead 3 because the interface on it is really cool with the programmable infinity knobs, but I've read a few too many problems that people have had with them, so im holding off on it just for now. I did just pick up an Access Virus ti though, and it will be an awesome companion for my kurzweil. I'd love a Nord Stage 2 also, but I'm nowhere near a good enough piano player to justify spending 3k for that nice of piano sounds that no one but me will care about anyway.

How are you liking the Virus? I really love the filter on those and how 3D they sound. Had a Lead 2X, but sold it - just wasn't my thing.

I like it a lot, but I can only compare it to my kurz really, which is a k2000vp. I like having all of the oscillators and filters and adsr right on it without having to scroll through menus and save patches. I think the virus is kind of a love it or hate it type of sound though too. Once you know what it sounds like, it's really identifiable. It has kind of a sheen on the high end that analog fiends seem to hate, but for newer synth sounds, and anything trancey it kills.

Also the supersaw. Layering supersaws is my favorite.

Got my NL3 right here... Best UI ever!

Better sound demo here...

well shit, then you don't need an A1. What you really need is a Dave Smith Poly Evolver.

Do you recommend the new Prophet? I was hoping for a new VS with the joystick... :aww:

I think the early NL3 had some start-up issues due to the PSU capacitors. Mine is later model... Works perfectly.

I haven't tried a Nord. Got a Moog, Alesis Ion, and an old Kawaii K4 for strings and piano sounds. Sometimes I cheat and us a Gr33 instead.
