Any Fractal VP4 Guinea Pigs?

I remember the fx8 did mess with things, i am pretty sensitive to the feel and sound when adding pedals (im a bit ocd). Im not noticing anything on the vp4, and if there is anything it’s still probably the best of anything i have tried at this point.

I am super picky about this also, especially how the dynamics of the bass change when ringing out huge chugs. I notice a lot of digital conversions tend to smear the bass, I generally look for analog dry through.

VP4 has my attention but so does the TC Plethora x 5. Wish i could try them out before buying

i have both, VP4 for the win. Just put the Morningstar MC6 Pro on my board to handle some midi switching. Makes the VP4 even better! and i can integrate my old trusty H9.

So the midi built in can't be assigned to functions such as amp channel switching? Just wondering why you needed an external pedal.

I’ll be grabbing one. I’m already a Fractal fan and it was inevitable, I was just waiting for a need to pop up. I’ve been building a non-modeling pedalboard this last year and just about wrapped up with it. I initially just wanted pedals that did one thing each, but when looking at the cost of the remaining pedals to buy, what they do and how much more I’d get out of the VP4, I decided to say fuck it and go with the VP4.

IE- My lead/clean tones use a dual delay into a reverb in parallel, that end up feeding a reverse delay at the very end of my chain. It’d cost me about the same amount of money to buy individual pedals to pull that off as it would buying a VP4 where I’ll get a ton of other options.

I briefly considered selling my FM9 and just grabbing both the VP4 and AM4, but something is telling me not to get rid of the FM9 just yet.

so each bank can have 4 presets, and each effect in that preset can have 4 variations of the same type of effect. To complicate further, you can have independent scenes for each preset.

To simplify my switching (because in some instance it would require multiple taps of multiple footswitches), i use midi to go directly to a patch i've built with a specific purpose. In some examples, i can now go from 3-4 buttons down to 1. And I can still keep the VP4 in effects mode to toggle independent effects if desired. I do that a lot on patches where i'm running a tremolo or phaser.

It is COMPLETELY functorial without the midi controller and i've used it for the last 6 months live without it with zero issue other than i occasionally have to tap dance a bit. The midi controller just makes my life a little easier for the way I use it.

The only modeler I've ever had was the Boss GT100. I am always drawn to modelers. I always read the threads and watch the vids over the past 10 years. Yet I never buy one. It's because I don't play out so I can't justify buying one! However this one really is making my fingers itchy to buy one

what do you like about it over the h90? I have one and I like it, but I'm not over the moon with it. Primary use is delay and reverb. If it could ape the blackhole algorithm I'd consider switching.
Mainly the ease of use, as well as being able to keep my board super simple. Less cables is always better. I did not love editing on the h90 itself (better than the h9) and the fractal gives me 4 effects and a gate. I am literally running the vp4 with an expression pedal, a digitech drop pedal for tunings (yes the vp4 can do it but i had the pedal and would rather not give up a block for that) and a suhr mico midi so i can channel switch any of my amps.
