You don't need drugs to appreciate epic music! In the same way you don't need beer to appreciate thrash. Oh wait...

LOVE Shoegaze. This is good, will have to listen to more of this band. Thanks for posting.

While drugs may not be necessary, I feel Psilocybin could certainly make things that much more interesting.

Cool track regardless

Interesting... controlled noise. Did like the semi-crunchy "Tele-through-a-VOX-AC30" sound going on in the pocket, though...

Awesome

I'll be ordering some CDs tonight, they're now in the order

Love it...!!

I have persuaded someone to the cause, my work here is done  Glad you like 'em, man! I've pretty much been listening to nothing else except these guys and, um, Morbid Angel recently

I should also point out that they are mind-blowingly good live.

This.

The song's awesome man. I love stuff like this. In fact I enjoy it more than metal.

This sort of stuff, metal and progressive rock occupy equal spaces in my musical consciousness

If you get bored, forward to 8:30 onwards

That was probably the worst part IMO. Guitarist just plays the same chord for 5 minutes straight while some guy in the background goes "Aaaaaaggggghhhhhhh Aaaaaaaahhhwwwwww". I've noticed there are a lot of bands like this popping up lately, hopefully it's just some kind of fad :scared:

That's a very narrow way of looking at it. Clearly they're not about technical accomplishment, so the "same chord for 5 minutes" point is a bit misguided, just as me saying "Pantera is just the same 'chug-chug/groove' riffs for 5 minutes" would be misguided.

It's obviously about the atmosphere created, and the build up. I challenge you to find me a band that sounds like Sigur Ros - there are lots of post-rock bands, but none that sound quite like them. As to the "fad" comment generally, however, I agree: lots of post-rock bands are derivative and boring. Sigur Ros have been around since the 90s, though, and are unique.

I love this band, and obviously they have a lot of credibilty in Europe and elsewhere. I think they've been around since 1998 or so. It's not "crank it up on the drive home" music, but it's great for sunday mornings in the stereo - or listening to at night (at least for me).

ahhhh Sigur Ros. fucking love that band.

Untitled #4 (The Nothing Song/Njosnavelin) seriously my #1 favorite song of all time. has been since I first heard it.

had the pleasure of seeing them live a few years back.

actually one of my tats is art from their album:

Are they not big over there? They're MASSIVE here!

They're quite popular here too just not so much in the circles that populate this board. They're a different kind of "heavy". Great band though, I've been into them for years. Enjoyed the vid, I'm going to have to dig up some of their stuff up to jam to at work tonight.

Pink Floyd was doing this shit 30+ years ago. Difference was they had talent. :2thumbsup:

Yeah... and I loved Barrett era floyd too, what's ur point? Every type of music has to arise from the ground or it's junk and you pull the unoriginality card? At least it's not Lady Gaga or Kesha mainstream overchewed bullshit.
