Not sure if old news, Satch is playing Marshalls now.

I didn't buy my JSX because of Satriani - I played one and liked it. For a three channel amp, it sounded good and took fx well. I used one for about a year - played clubs, outdoor biker gigs, etc with no problems.

Satriani financed Surfing with a credit card, and then had to sell his musical soul to Greg Kihn to pay it off. :) Then Satch Boogie started getting airplay and he's been able to make a career.

It has to be true, here is a news release promo from Peavey on Chickenfoot. The removed the pic of Joe and make no mention of him!! LOL

Oh man, I just looked at the above link. Yeah, Peavey talks about the super group Chickenfoot, mentions everyone's name EXCEPT Satriani...no pics of him either. They make it sound like Chickenfoot is just a three piece band...sans Satriani.

Peavey must REALLY be pissed...

Satch & Chickenfoot are still on Peavey's home page, so they haven't completely crossed him off the artist list yet.

First Ed now Joe...who knows though. Maybe Joe is still going to go with Peavey just not with the band but I kinda doubt that. I played a JSX for a bit...still to this day one of the best live tones I've ever had but with the last band I was in it didn't work well. So I switched to a Marshall. Maybe it's the same thing.

I do know that Ed had one of the most lucrative sponsorship deals ever...he made virtually half of every product sold. Take away production costs and Peavey didn't make much off ED. I doubt Joe's deal was as good. The only reason Lynch's deal fell through is that he would never settle on anything, Peavey would get ready to go to production and he'd change his mind. Alot of people forget the XXX was Lynch's signature amp...Peavey had already gone into production and were ready to ship when Lynch changed his mind...I wished I could have gotten one of the Lynch/XXX posters at NAMM that year. Next up was the Brahma (sp?) which eventually became the Penta because Peavey was fed up with Lynch. That comes directly from one of Peaveys higher ups from NAMM years back.

Still think Peavey should continue to develope the 6505 line...it's been bread and butter for them and most people still like them.

That and the Classic series are what they should continue.

Also, AMS is blowing out the Penta's for $469.99 right now. I think the MSRP was $1599.

I knew that about Lynch....wonder what the story was.

Lastly, I think Joe & Co need to enlist Buckethead to open for them. How funny would that be?

I don't get why artists just can't come out and say, "yeah I like Marshalls..but you know yeah I like Peavey's too". When artists do stuff like this they remind me of fickle schoolgirls picking out boyfriends for recess.

Actually incorrect about Lynch. The reason that the XXX deal fell through is that George had an endorsement with Genz Benz cabs at the time, and Peavey would not let George play the XXX with any other cab but the Peavey cabs. So if he wanted the deal, he had to break his contract with Genz Benz. George was furious about this because it was never mentioned until the last possible minute according to him.

Hmm...... Eddie, George and now Joe
That may be true but not what the Peavey rep told me...remember the cab didn't come out till a bit later. Also Peavey went into developement with the Brahma right after the XXX so George would have still had his Genz endorsement. Again, I'm just basing this on what the Peavey rep told me, it would be cool to get the official story from both sides and see how the differ.

I have seen Satch over a dozen times over the years, including this past tour with Eric Johnson opening up for him. Have to say the jsx live tone just didn't do it for me like his marshall days.
Still, I would have thought the Vintage Modern would have been the amp he would have gone for. I have both and to me its just a superior tone.

Heh, as much as I love Joe and his influence on me, I would never put "Satch" and "superior tone" together. EJ on the other hand...

I have to say it................I have never heard a Peavey amp that I liked!!
The 5150 was a good start but it was noisy, a friend has the JS one and it is lame.
Compared to Mesa, Marshall, Randall, and Fender, Peavey's tone does not hold up.
The ONLY thing Peavey has on them is low price.
Sorry.

How come no one ever mentions Time Machine?? That's Joe's best album, tonally, IMO.
