Not what I wanted to deal with

Woke up yesterday morning to water on the floor and my 55 gallon fish tank leaking. Thankfully it was just a pinhole leak. Water was just on the tile floor so nothing ruined and I was able to temporarily seal the leak long enough to get another tank on the way way home from work. That didn't change the fact I had a nice wet mess to deal with first thing in the morning.

The sad part is I've had this particular tank set up in some form or another for the last 25 years straight. The border trim has a stone look and I've never seen another tank like that since. Usually it's black or wood grain looking trim. I'll either eventually reseal it or maybe set it up as a snake enclosure. Either way I'm not just going to get rid of it.

What a pain in the ass having to swap out tanks. It took most of the afternoon to get it all done. I don't think the fish were too happy about the whole ordeal either. I was a little worried the stress might have been a bit much on them. So far they don't seem any worse for wear. The replacement tank is 55 gallon too, but for whatever reason is bigger than the old one. It's a couple of inches longer and taller. Everyone was accounted for this morning and they look to be satisfied in their new home.

Goodness. Glad you worked your way through that morning nightmare and all is seemingly well. Sounds like you were proactive in your placement, at least. Assuming fresh water given you were able to transfer them so quickly? Hopefully you find something cool to repurpose your old tank.
Did you have to buy a new stand too since the dimension were a bit off? When I was about 19 or 20 came home to find my beta fish had disappeared out of it's tank along with a few personal items missing. Pretty sure it was the creepy landlord...

I didn't have to get a new stand. I have the tank on a solid wood buffet cabinet thing in the entryway. There was more than enough room to accommodate for the few extra inches of the new tank.

Yeah, it's freshwater. It's mostly tropical fish (main ones are a Pearl Gourami and African Leaf Fish), but has 2 big ass goldfish in it. The goldfish started out as feeders for my turtles. I guess they turned into leftovers the turtles forgot were in the back of the fridge. I dropped them in the 55 to see if my leaf fish wanted them. Eventually they just kept growing until they were the biggest fish in the tank. LOL.

I had some gold fish that I got for .25 cents each. Only one survived long term and he grew to be several inches, and fat. He used to like to swim in one of the hidey-holes I bought him except he became too fat and got caught in there one day. I tried to rescue him but he didn't make it. Glad you were able to rectify the situation and your fish are happy again. I love a nice fish tank and was hoping you'd share some pics but you didn't, so now I'm in a bad mood today.

Seems like you got it sorted pretty-quickly bro'; well done man.

My 4-footers were bought in the '80s. 40 years old now.

One's seals look good but the other's a right mess; it's a miracle the "bubbles" don't link up anywhere to provide a leak path.

Oh, I'll move this to Hobbies where the other aquarium stuff lives...
