NEVER stop in the middle of a song.... BAND 101! :gethim:

I love McAlpine, but will never pay a dollar towards anything that would end up in Portnoys pocket.
 
I was at a Whitesnake show where Doug Aldrich got so pissed off because he was getting no sound during a song that he threw his Tele about 20 feet behind him into some roadcases. I assume he thought the guitar was messed up when in the end it was a stupid cable.
 
In the 90s I had all the DTs discs... then I saw them live & Portnoy scolded the audience because we all wanted their hits and "we play Take the Time every night & we're tired of playing it" so it was Elton John covers & switch instruments all night...& get reprimanded

Never listened to them again

In this video he's bullying 16 year old techs who speak another language...real tough guy
 
what a dick...perhaps they should also use local drummers too to ah, save money ;)

wouldn't be an easy thing to do to check the setup BEFORE hitting the stage?
 
I always thought Portnoy was an ASSHOLE....even in the days when I was a huge DT fan, listening to them constantly.

A: A drummer.
 
am sure his frustrations is not from that gig only. Its been built up over many gigs. The backline, drums, p.a., is hired, and set up. The sound crew is usually responsible. He wants to do the best for the show. Am not agreeing with his antics, but i understand his frustration, it is more the embarrassment for him of the poor gear/set-ups, as being a a giggy musician for 25 years and I can relate. Have been in the same situation many times, and have lost my cool also.
 
Would it kill him to do a once over on his shit before he plays? Isn't that part of it? Like what would it take to make sure shit is tight 5 minutes? I feel sorry for the poor kid trying to clean up after his infantile rant.
 
Does anybody care what portnoy does anymore? I'm sure the guys in DT are a lot happier these days. Too bad Flying Colors got stuck with him.
 
What a cunt. At that level of being a pro you can't just play thru the song and address the issue after the fact? :doh:
 
Can't imagine Peart ever acting like that. The again Portnoy will never be a Peart although he thinks he's some sort of legend.

I agree 100% but the was because of Moore and Petrucci. :). Those two work magic together.

Portnoy can't even craft a good drum solo.
