I'd do a 2203/2204 instead of a JMP/Plexi. The non-master ones are super crazy freakin' loud. They are unbearable unless you can really crank them in a stadium or something. Otherwise... no thanks. And with the JCM800s, you can mod them for more modern high-gain sounds if that's your thing. You can do it with the non-master ones too, but if you plan on doing it, might as well start with a circuit that already has a master in it.

Yep if I was doing a JMP it would definitely be a later 2203 or 2204 version.... or I would be including a PPIMV in the initial build since that is a relatively easy add.
