How the fuck is EA sports gonna have him on the cover of Madden in a Fudge Packers uniform?

Will they push back a release date till things are decided or are they already in print???

Haha, I don't think they're too concerned. The game has got to be gold by now. It comes out next Tuesday.

Maybe that will break the Madden curse! Maybe not since Favre will probably get whatever team he's on into the playoffs then just break their hearts with an interception.

I'm sick and tired of this story already. Favre is fun to watch but i have always thought he's a bit overrated. He's only got 1 ring and he's been bad in plenty of playoff games.

I hope he falls on his face and flops. indecisive dink.
He helped bring greatness back to a football team that was in the gutter and for that I'm grateful. But I've grown tired of the same story at the beginning of every season. You can't have question marks like that in a business or football team and function at your best. That's a poor mindset to start off every season. I really hope, where ever he ends up, he just has a miserable season. He's made himself look like an ass and turned our team into a 2-bit, 3-ring circus.

I was in Green Bay for the weekend for Family Night. For a community that is so fond of it's football team and Bret Favre, It's ashame that it has come down to this. I back the Packers on this decision, it's not Favre's team. As good as he is, he still throws too many interceptions.

I bet you would want to be Farve's #1 receiver...............................

but he has thrown a shitton of touchdowns too. and let's not forget, for ANY QUARTERBACK, to start 275 straight games is a HUGE accomplishment. let's not forget that he's THE ONLY 3 time mvp of the league either. john elway is considered great because he won 2 super bowls (well, terrell davis won the first) but people always forget the 3 that he lost...by an INSANE point differential!
plenty of players have pulled the "retirement card"...strahan, faulk & barber come to mind and even the great barry sanders tried to come back and get out of his contract with the lions. i don't understand why they wouldn't just let release him...lots of players have been "let go" or traded when their time was up with the team...montana, rice, lott, rathman, craig, emmitt smith, namath, unitas, tittle, dorsett, franco harris, mcmahon...i could go on and on.
it's a fairly old & tired story but that's cuz the media makes such a massive big deal out of it and that's all they show all fukn day long (remember the romo/simpson bullshit?). i don't know why they can't show us anything else from around the league...contrary to what the media believes, not all of us want the dirt...some of us still love football and i don't see how you could consider yourself a football fan and not consider favre one of the greatest to ever play.

I'm still surprised everytime I hear someone claim to be a Packers fan, then go on to lambast Favre.......wow is all I can really say. If not missing a day of work for 16 years, playing IMMEDIATELY (the next day I believe) after the death of one of your parents, playing at a high level while your wife is suffereing from breast cancer, or while your mom is missing in a hurricane.....etc doesn't buy you a little leeway I don't know what ever will. A lot of players sacrifice for their team but most of them of them are not SB winners, 3 time league MVPs, or holders of every major statistical record for their position while playing on a team that hasn't offered much help in the way of talent. Favre hasn't had much help there for YEARS, many of the INTs were the result of trying to fight back and win in a game where they wouldn't have had any chance without Favre (some were bad throws, I'll give you that, mistakes if you will).

But remember the Packers would not hesitate to bend Favre over (cut him, force him to renegotiate his contract etc) if he were a guy who couldn't help them win or was on the decline. In this instance even if he is trying to bend them over (I do not believe that is this case though) to get what he wants who cares? People tune in to watch players not league owners and coaches play.

And the Packers don't owe Rodgers anything, that is LAUGHABLE. They already made him a millionaire for holding a clipboard for three years. He NEVER has to work now for the rest of his life.......and he is not a better player and DOES NOT give the Packers a better chance to win......there is really no argument there..........The 49ers picked ALEX SMITH first overall instead of Rodgers a few years ago and look how good he is.......

Alex Smith is garbage. He'll never amount to anything in the NFL IMO.

Martz is an offensive genius, but I don't even think he can save Alex Smith and that 49er offense.

Just saw on ESPN that Favre is "likely to be traded to the Bucs." VERY interesting.

i wonder if it would actually push the bucs to playoff contention...how's their d been the last few years? haven't heard much about them.

They made the playoffs last year!

I think Favre would turn them into a huge contender assuming he plays as well as he's capable of. Their defense isn't as great as it was a few years ago, but it's still decent.

I just read this on Gamestop's website.

"Madden NFL 09 is much more than an update of last year's version. It's been completely re-tooled, with more than 85 new features, including dramatically realistic weather and an innovative Replay option. They probably could have fit in even more features if they didn't have to keep taking out Brett Favre and then putting him back in."

I've been playing the shit out of the demo (yeah, I'm determined - lol) - and I have to say, it seems in all regards to be better than last years.

Running is WAY more difficult (even bypassing the madden-IQ thing). Passing is better (recievers can actually get seperation!), and so on...

I'm going to tear this shit up with the Lions...unfortunately, that doesn't mean much in reality.

Yeah I agree that it seems really good. I thought '08 was much better than '07 and it looks like '09 is going to be even better yet. I'm gonna play through a season as the Redskins with Colt Brennan as my starting QB when I get it. :D

i can't wait for this game. i had an issue with the last one (on xbox360)...when you pik your plays, there's no top/bottm "secret" thing like previous versions...was that just an xbox thing or was it like that on all of them. that shit suks when you're playing a friend NOT online.

In NCAA '09 each play displayed on screen was assigned to a different button, so I thought that worked pretty well. I don't remember if that's in the Madden '09 demo, but I'm sure it is.
