NPD Boss SD-1 Boosting my 95 Mesa Tremoverb Head

Just picked up a used Boss SD-1 locally to try boosting my Mesa tremoverb head for modern metal in drop B that my band plays and wow! Now I'm still getting a 6505+ head but the SD-1 definitely sounds different than the Ibanez TS9 I had, I had to turn the bass waay down on the red channel in modern mode! Didn't really mess with the controls yet on the sd1, left them where the previous owner had it set too and was powering it off my boss ns-2, any recommended settings?

Both the Rectifiers and the 5150 are based off of the SLO 100. The Rectos just have more of a low mid focus than the 5150/6505. The Tremoverb though, it's almost like Mesa took the Q of a parametric EQ and just bumped the midrange focus over. The Tremoverb is less compressed than a 5150 like a regular Recto, but it has a killer upper mid punch that I hadn't found in my previous Rectifiers and Roadster. Add a great clean channel, reverb, and tremolo...and it's a slammin' head. I can dial it in to sound almost identical to my 6505....and then still get all of the Recto tones too.

Love my SD1 but man the switch is getting really touchy. Sometimes it won't turn on , then once on it can take quite a few steps to get it to disengage, almost like you have to find the sweet spot to turn it on/off. Anyone else have this issue?

Maybe. Found this picture online, guy was having the same issue and this resolved it. To simple not to try. Basically covered the backside of the bottom plate with electrical tape.

The tov's rape face! A friend here in town has one and it just killed. I could never get my dual rec to sound quite as good as his trem o verb. His sounded good with all the controls at 11 o'clock ish, and a slight boost. My dual I used more extreme settings and gave it a hard boost to sound that aggressive. Still like orange cloned to modern the best.

everyone is going to say to put the level somewhere around 12 oclock and the gain barely turned from zero. i used an sd one with my mesa am and palm mutes are immaculate. cheers.
